    Default Former Instructor

    Okay. Very cool here.

I just got off the phone with my first instructor, Vinton Koklich. I haven't talked to him in over 20 years. Closer to 24. It was so great. It turns out he only lives a relatively short drive from me (an hour an a half maybe).

I hope to get to see him next week. I think he's a 9th and sort of retired from kenpo about 7 years ago. But one never completely retires from kenpo!

    I'm so excited!

Now I'm nervous too because I feel like I'm 15 again and I totally want to impress him. I was trying to think of wise kenpo things to say. lol.

Needless to say, it was a short conversation! lol.

Anyhoo, I hope to see him next week when he's coming to the area.

Too cool!! That is WONDERFUL news, Amy!

I bet he is going to love to hear about your school. That must be such a treat for a teacher to hear about how one of his students is going forward to teaching on their own.

I told him a little about it and I'm already having thoughts about how cool it would be to have him come do a seminar or two, etc.

He's the one who first got me excited about kenpo. For that I owe him a debt of gratitude.

    It sounds cool.

And I know that he'll love being with you and talking with you as you will with him.

Guess we never get over trying to impress our first Black Balt instructor on how far we have come. Our Senior Grandmaster moved to the Northwest a while back. We are hoping to be able to visit him sometime this year. Been over 27 years since we have seen him. Hopefully we have improved some in that time. Anyway it will be good to see him.

    I am most Respectfully,

    Just curious.

    Who?

    And where?

Since I live also in the PNW.
