Default Video Clip: Gladiators by Elvis Presley

I found this on youtube and it seems its a bunch of small full contact tournament fights with a couple of Ed parker shots in it. Someone said it was real tournament fighting, but whats interesting is in the first video you can see Ed Parker in an actual tournament fight for a couple seconds, as he catchs the guy and hits him while he trips him lol. It has the guy from a bruce lee movie and that benny the jet guy also. Pretty good stuff and VERY old:

    First video:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p4XlcFA1VJA

Second video is different, it has Ed Parker doing a demo vs the one guy who played in bruce lees movie, watch it carefully because its like 2 seconds long. The rest is all full contact fighting.

    Second:

So, does this movie actually exist with a lot more to see? What was the actual "Point" in this video.. what was it going to be about? I'm assuming real full contact martial artists?

A little knowledge can be a very dangerous thing. First off you DO NOT see Ed Parker in a tournament fight. Secondly the Bob Wall is not in this either, that is Roy Kurban you see in this movie. The New Gladiators is a documentary that was funded by Elvis Presley.

    It has some great footage.

Um if im not mistake, I'm pretty sure that we Ed fighting in the beggining split scene.. did Roy have blondish whitish hair back then? or his almostly, almostly, ALMOSTLY identical being in those scenes...the big guy with whitish hair?

Why was Ed Parker shaking hands with everyone at the end too then? Just a thought.

I own this tape from Rising Sun Productions and have watched it many times.

Ed Parker was shaking hands with people because he was the coach of a team that fought in England and Belgium. All of the members of that team had their names on the back of the uniforms.

The person you mention taking someone down is a British competitor with very light coloured hair probably blonde, he was taking out Benny Urquidez.

Roy Kurban is the guy who looks like Bob Wall from the Bruce Lee movie.

Rob, is this video worth picking up? I seem to remember seeing something similar to this on HBO or Starz or something a few years ago, and looked interesting. A documentary on full-contact tournament fighting.

Worth every penny. while it is not a documentary on full contact tournament fighting the contact rules were very loose back then.

You will see Dan Anderson, Steve Armstrong, Dave Brock, Ron Chapel, Iron Eye Cody, Dennis Conatser, John Corcoran, Fumio Demura, Ticky Donovan, Flem Evans, Emil Farkas, Steve Fisher, Darnell Garcia, Pat Johnson, Tom Kelly, Roy Kurban, Eric Lee, Geert Lemmens, Vic LeRoux, Ron Marchini, Steve (Sanders) Muhammed, John Natividad, Cecil Peoples, Bill Rasaki, Blinky Rodriques, Danny Spelling, Mike Stone, Frank Trejo, Arnold Urquidez, Benny Urquidez, Iaiah Williams, Byoung Yu. It has an original score by Graham Nash and David Crosby and is narrated by Chuck Sullivan

    Sorry to jump in here.

I have this DVD as well and it's a welcome edition to my collection. Reality TV at its finest... beats the heck out of Survivor

As far as a documentary on full-contact fighting is concerned... that's not how I'd characterize it. It's more a story of people.

    Cheers

I am 90% sure that is George Quinones that Mr. Parker is doing his demo on and also who is fighting Benny the jet in a few matches. Also could have sworn I saw JT Will in one of the matches.

There is a long standing tradition not to fight in the tournaments that you yourself put on.

Tournament fighting and street fighting are very different as you know.

Mr. Parker had nothing to prove ... he proved plenty with his system and the people who followed him.

Heck here we are still talking about it.

I saw this 2 or 3 years ago and yes it is worth every penny. My Sifu told me about the fighters of 70's and it is cool see it for my self. Seeing fighter like Mr. Eric Lee Mr. Steve Armstrong, Doctor Ron Chapel and the FASTEST hands that Master Bruce Lee has ever seen Mr. Steve Muhammad in action is AWSOME!!!!
