Default Who would you want by your side on the street?

A thread about Bodyguards on MT got me thinking... If you had to pick one person to be by your side in the street (when things went bad) who would it be and why?

Mine would be the head of our Security for Kara-Ho Kempo, he was a Sgt. Major in the Marine Corps. and taught the Recon guys CQC and what-not. He is now a Cop and Swat Leader. It is also worth mentioning that he left his prev. MA after achieving 5th dan and over 20 years of training when he saw Kara-Ho Kempo. He is a patriot, a hero, and one of the most disciplined and mentally strong people I have known.

    He IS a Universal Soldier.

    What do you folks think?
The above is just my opinion.

    Doc Chapel.

He's bigger than I am, badder than I am, is more street smart and has more guns. Can't ask for much more than that

Mr. Mills, Doc, SGM, Mr. Herman, and of course Mr. Hilderbrand as well as the AKKI's "Board". Not only are they great Kenpoists-they are also versed in firearms. Something I need to learn.

Eric; Mick; Yorick (I knew him well...a fellow of infinite jest!). He's already been there, and we think in equally twisted terms. Well, almost. One of us is a bit more demented than the other...you'll just have to attack the two of us, and find out who.

Otherwise, Doc. But I think his grasp on reality would limit his imagination as to bizarre, yet entertaining, threat responses.

Well my answer is a two part the first part a someone and the second part a something. On the some one well to feel is to believe and I believe my instructor would be a valuable asset to have at my side. The some thing would be a Glock 17.

Hmmm, well I would prefer a good looking woman by my side on the street ... oh you mean for self defense?

Larry Tatum (the man is wicked fast, accurate and hits like a truck)

    or my instructor

Ken Herman (moves and hits like a younger Larry Tatum with incredible knowledge of the system)

Mike Pick seems like someone who would demolish people.

Mike Lambert is a lean mean fighting machine.

Larry Tatum is also a lean mean fighting machine.

My husband because he'd fight to the death for me.

Hard to say. There are a lot of people who I think could fight.

Who would be there to help me talk my way out of it?

Dianhsuhe, I'll sort of go with your pick. Mine would be my last Sgt Maj when I was at Kaneohe- actually a 1st Sgt on the Sgt Maj list and filling the billet. He was so short he never had to duck, but there was more tough and mean packed into that small frame than I've seen anywhere else. Guy was a Hawaiian, and a Hawaiian Martial Art student as well. He understood that loyalty went both directions- we were there with him because there was no doubt he'd be there for us. And jarheads do tend to stick together. We had to, being as we were allways outnumbered by squids, dog faces, and other vermin.

Tuhon Tom Kier, the baddest knife specialist I have ever seen or Tuhon Ray Dionaldo, give the guy a karambit and he is a human blender.

I'd want Mr. Scott Montoya on my side. I met him when he was on the testing panel for my yellow belt test. The man is at least a fifth degree black (probably higher), a deputy sheriff and Marine who's been to war and was awarded the Navy Cross. Formidable man, I don't think I'd have to worry about anything with him around.

I would take any of my Canadian Kenpo Brothers anytime. If we couldn't talk our way out of it and go for a beer, then we coudl pelt them with Hockey Pucks.

I like that Our beer alone should win that fight with it's generally higher potency.
