My vote goes to Tim Sylvia.
I like both fighters but would like to see Randy win. I have a tendancy to pull for who I believe to be the underdog sometimes. I hope Randy is not coming out of retirement to just get embarrased by getting beat down. He does have a history of pulling off some upsets though. I just think age is catching up with him. Sylvias size is trouble for anyone he fights also. Just toooooo dam big with soooo much reach.

Isn't Rany a Kenpo guy, if I remember correctly? If that it so, than my vote is for Randy. They are both major thumpers!

I also don't want to see Couture pull a Shamrock but I'll vote for him.

Couture is an exceptional talent. Sylvia is an exceptionally big dude.

Plus, I hope he wins because that means Liddel is #1 champ since he beat Couture 2 out of 3 and Liddel is a Hawaian Kempo guy.

I don't practice Hawaian Kempo but it is in the Kempo family.

Ok so I got Couture and Lidell mixed up. I've only gotten 14 hours of sleep over the past 4 days. Darn internship applications.

I think Sylvia relies to much on his size. I believe Couture is more fundamentally sound, and regardless of age is in excellent shape. My money is on Randy. "fingers crossed"

Where as Sylvia is a giant walking, Couture is a seasoned warrior.

    My vote is for Randy.

i think it is going to depend on how well prepared and the execution of sylvias game plans is done. i would like to see randy but i don't think it is going to happen sylvia has an amazing camp training him and jeff monson had trouble getting the takedown against him so i feel randy will have the same not to mention sylvia has knock out power (arlofski) and a huge size advantage.

I hope Randy Wins then retires again. I hate watching Tim Sylvia fight. He is very boring. If Randy loses Cro Cop will be waitning to take the belt away from Sylvia. Couture or Cro Cop will be a much better Heavy weight champ then Sylvia.

This thread is not about lineages but Hawaian Kempo and which ever Kenpo your refering to are different branches from the same tree.

I really like Randy Couture and hope that he wins. That said, it seems more likely to me that the match will leave me disappointed.

Randy has had trouble with big guys in the past (Barnett and Rodriguez, which is why he moved down in weight to 205), and Tim will be the biggest guy he's fought yet. In my opinion, Randy's main avenue for beating Tim will be getting him on the ground and punching him enough while he's there to have the fight stopped. Randy's not a submission guy, and I don't expect him to KO Silvia while standing. I think his options for finishing Tim are limited, and I think Tim and his trainer know this and will train like crazy to keep away from Randy's main strength. As the rounds go on, my guess is that Tim will have the endurance advantage if Randy can't hurt him early.

I'm sure Randy has something up his sleeve though, and he's said that the strategy of "fighting to not lose" that Silvia has been using lately is going to come back and bite him. I hope it does. My head says Sylvia, and my heart says Randy. Go Randy!!

    My feelings exactly.
I saw an interview with Sylvia the other day where he mentioned Couture being favored. ????? I don't know if this is true or if he was just saying this might happen. Find it hard to believe someone coming out of retirement could be favored over the champ who has defended his belt numerous times. The more I think about this fight the more I'm looking forward to it.

+1 Although Randy is not known as a submission guy, doesn't mean he doesn't know them though. His main game is ground-n-pound. He'll never win the stand up game with Tim, so I hope he doesn't even try. I really hope Randy submits the Walrus.

If you watched the last fights between Sylvia ans Arlofsky neither of them really tried to win. Too tentative!! They were not aggressive and only tried not to lose. I would like to see Randy Win, but I don't think it will happen. Maybe if Randy gets him down. I don't think he can win a stand up fight. Tim has too long a reach and hits too hard.
