    Default Kenpo Talk

What drew you to Kenpo talk, and what keeps you coming back for more, and what is your favorite area of Kenpo talk?

I found this place while jumping around looking for more info about Kenpo when I first started in this art. I wanted to somewhat compare what my instructor was teaching vs., the rest of the Kenpo world. At first after finding this place and meeting a lot of very nice and knowledgeable people I was frustrated. Some of the things I was learning didn’t fit the exact way some here list them. So I went looking deeper with tons of questions for my instructor and everyone here. It took me a little time but I am now starting to come full circle. At least my” is the grass greener complex is getting better”?

I keep coming back for a lot of reasons, good company, tons of Kenpo past, knowledge, very good questions and answers, and sometimes hilarious cracks. But that’s just a few reasons I could go on all day but I won’t.

Favorite area that’s hard so many to choose from, I guess the most honest answer would be all of them.

I heard about Martial Talk from an instructor and after Kenpo Talk came on I was hooked. As mentioned the people here are always ready to help, even if it's just a chance to vent. I really enjoy hearing from people about "the old days" even if some remeber them different than others. A lot of great technical expertise too, and of course we obviously have all have something in common.

My son told me that KenpoTalk was not like the other talk forums and that people were helpful and friendly. Also there was no infighting or sniping at others allowed. I had monitored some of the others and that is all they did.
At first I monitored it for some time and did not post. After a while I realized that I could answer a lot of the questions that people were asking. I"m not brilliant ,but just been around the Kenpo scene a long time. My answers come from long time experience. I found out there were several other old timers that I knew on KT too. They were helping a lot of people with their replies. I have made a lot of new friends from there too. At least 3 are talking about coming to visit us. To sum it up visiting with a lot of good Kenpo people and making new friends has kept me on KenpoTalk.

    I am most Respectfully,

The quality of people are what brings me here. I learn from reading other people's posts. This is probably our best little spot on the net.

I had found two MA forums on MySpace, Kenpo Karate and MySpace Martial Arts. The Kenpo forum is good, but didn't have much activity going on, and the other forum, although much more active and informative, had a lot of bickering and childishness going on (as to be expected on MySpace).

I wanted to find a forum that offered good information and helpful, friendly people who can hold decent conversations and enjoy each other, and also was Kenpo-centered. So I just did a search for Kenpo forums on the internet, and found KenpoTalk and also KenpoNet.com. I have found so much info on both sites that I don't really read the MySpace forums as much anymore.

I was on Martialtalk for a little while before Bob made Kenpotalk. He asked me to be one of the first people to come to Kenpotalk. So two years later this is where I spend all of my time, other than school work of course.

I found it on accident and have never left since. The people are knowledable, willing to share in a friendly environment. I met some new friends here and even got to train a bit with them at Mr. Kelley's camp.

Now we just need to get some more of you out next time

I found it through MartialTalk. What keeps me here is the people and the things that bother me about web boards are kept at a minimum.

I don't have a favorite area. I look through the new posts and see if there is something that interests me.

At the time I came across KT I was about fed up with MA forums. They all seemed full of ego maniacs that only wanted to bash each other and share nothing productive.

I stay around here because KT is a good resource for information sharing, is productive for the most part, and has some really intelligent and just plain good people.

Ditto what CC said---If you took MT and boiled it and put it through a strainer a couple of times you would have KT, and that is a good thing!

Good people, great topics, and a pretty good mix of Kempo/kenpo systems.

I frequent the "other" sites but call this one home.

Found KT by accident as a degenerate Kenpo junkie . People here are generally positive and realistic about Kenpo and Martial Arts in general .

Agreed! KT is focused... and stays relevant to the question or issue at hand. Some other places... well... they "drift" a lot... some more than others...

I wanted to find out more about my Kenpo cousins. I come from the Okinawan side of things. So I didn't know much about the other side. I still perfer the Okinawan Kempo over all others. But I also would like to learn more about them.
