    Grasshopper,

I think you overstated yourself that no one can take one of your groin kicks.
I will remind you of Gramdmaster Archie. You know him., Is that enough said? you can have you kick him then him you. How would that be? Seems fair to me. He don't even wear a cup.

    I am most respectfully,

Archie? Would that be short for Archibique? If so I've heard the stories, my kajukenbo instructor was a student of his for a short time. I also saw an article by Kelly Worden that talked about how he used to go around NW tournaments and say "I'll let you kick me, then I get to kick you." I think he fits into a different category.

I was stupid enough (or smart) to prove this point in a women's self-defense class. Boy it hurt, but I had a stack of boards set up nearby and broke my record in anger.

Needless to say I will never attempt that again!

Proving which point? That it is disabling? Or that it makes the guy madder and more violent?

I was teaching a wrist grab escape to my YMCA class... i had one of the youngsters who was not able to escape the wrist grab and his first reaction was the groin kick to myself. i usually do not wear a cup when teaching the kids but because i was going right into my self defense class for adults i decided to put it on.

Best decision of my life... even thru the cup i felt the strike in my teeth.

reminds me of a confrontation i had about a year earlier while working. I was emptying the garbage and got in a fight. turned into a kickboxing and clinch fight. when i relayed this information to my SGM Chuck Sullivan, first question he asked was "Did you kick him in the groin or poke him in the eye?" . i had to tell him no.

i came to the realization that kenpo only works with the groin and eye strikes if we are willing to use the tools we train in a actual self defense situation. i stress this to my children and self defense classes.
