Thats one of the reasons why I study the arts...seeking to find the deeper meaning, other than "beating people up".
Thank you Mr. Broad for contacting me by email and yes you are correct, I have not posted in quite a while.
I've read through hundreds of posts on this forum looking for some mention of:
Kenpo / Kenpo School / Kenpo Demo raising money for charity, helping our fellow man, Promoting Kenpo to the general public in some way, etc...
but nothing.
I've learned from my daughter that a Martial Artist is interested in more than just the technical aspects of certain forms and techniques, he's/she's interested in helping his/her fellow man and promoting his/her art (sometimes they are the same thing).
Yes we can break an attacker's arm/leg/neck, but we can do so much more.
IMHO, Let's mention it from time to time.
What have I learned from this???

Exactly!!
I bet your very proud of those students.
GREAT JOB!!!
IMHO, this is as much a part of Martial Arts as everything else.
My daughter has been involved in many, many events at the school
and I'm just now realizing what a positive effect it has had on her.
What have I learned from this???
We have all our junior students (under 13) fill out a random acts of Kindness book for each test. They must have 50 random acts of kindness listed and signed by their parents. These can be holding the door for someone or giving the last snack to a sibling.

I post quite a bit on an RC Airplanes forum and one thing that was started was a "Pay It Forward" thread. Members would donate items for those less fortunate so they could learn to fly. (Mostly young people) This proved to be much more gratifying than the flying itself.
In MA, it seems less tangible (no physical item) but is not. The martial arts are about creating great people, not just great fighters.![]()
The above is just my opinion.
What a great idea. I am quite certain all the school owners here could find a deserving child or two and bring them into the school for lessons. I have done this in the past where I had a couple under privileged children in the school. They paid for their lessons by sweeping up the floor before or after classes. Other students donated old uniforms, sparring gear etc...
Look at how much the martial arts has improved your life, maybe you could help improve anothers life.
