Question Ideas for Making Traing Mats

    Greetings all,

Im sure with the vast amount of practitioners on this site, some of you would have some pretty good ideas on a cheap and simple way to create some training mats?

looking to cover about 2000 square feet of space.

    thanks

Start with broken glass... but put down a layer of roofing tar first.. it keeps the glass in place so you don't have to spread it around as it gets blank spots....

Ohhh and Scorpions... don't forget them.. at least one per square foot....

Ok seriously... 2000k square or is it more wonky shaped?

What will you be doing on these mats? Stand-up? Ground grappling? Falls? There is no “cheap and simple” that will be worth anything. Besides, by the time you put together materials to “make” accept mats, it’ll probably be cheaper just to purchase mats from a reputable source.

I agree there is no cheap thing as a mat...not without opening your self up or some one else up to injury. Any type of impacting exercise is best done on good well made mats

I hear you loud and clear Bill, I was thinking of using a high density foam and a marine vinyl cover like the Gracie schools. Looking forward to teaching that Karate Connection Material at our new school. we will also be offering Yoga, Kickboxing and Jiujitsu do the mats need to be versatile.

I suppose another thing to consider is whether the mats will be fixed or if they’ll need to be moved and stored when classes are finished.
