    Default Smell of fear

Does fear have a smell? We hear about the smell of fear in a dangerous situation. Is there any truth to this or is it an old wives tale?

I've never seen or read anything on the subject.

But I wouldn't doubt if your body puts out a hormone or something when confronted by a fearful situation and it has a certain smell to it.

This is what that saying refers too. There are different pheromones exuded in a fear response.

Be careful what you say, some may take it the wrong way.

I quick google search revealed that science does support the idea that we can smell fear.

"For he is God's servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God's servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer."

When a man is frightened badly his bowels may open along with the bladder
This is where the expression comes from to beat the crap out of someone.
