Default Promoted from Brown to Red Belt

I tested yesterday for my Red belt, an awesome, insanely hard two hours. I loved it, it was such a challenge being not just every technique , kata and basic but i had to think outside the box and even grappled at the end, It was definitely a test of knowledge and endurance and i feel i was prepared and did well. I feel very honored to be able to wear this belt and I am amazed the next time i will test it will be for my Black belt.

well i;m happy about your test and that you passed it, but i have a question
i see that you do Parkers kenpo, (now don't take this the wrong way)
when did Mr Parker add a RED belt to the system in all my years in kenpo i never heard of a red belt, the red belt rank was in the Korean system and the red belt was there BROWN belt, i'm sorry about the question and meant no disrespect ,

    Kelly,

Congratulations. It's always fun when the sparring and grappling is at the end of the test. When you are tired, and going against someone fresh.

I have actually heard that alot, that most kenpo schools do not have red belts. Not sure why mine does but i do know its equivalent to 1st degree brown. I will make a note of that on my profile as i do see that it must be confusing. Thank you for the congrats.

kelly, thank you for understanding,i do have this statement in Parkers kenpo
it starts from 3rd brown to 1st brown, now my question, if your red belt is your 1st brown, then where dose you REAL brown start?? once again please no disrespect.

I went from the green to the usual 3rd dg brown for 6 months, then tested and received my 2nd dg brown belt for the following six months, then tested and recieved my red belt which is equivalent to 1st dg brown which i will have for one year until i test for my black belt. No disrepect is felt at all, please ask anything you want to know

    Hi Kellyanne,

Welcome to the site and congrats on your red belt!

I've heard of other schools doing just what yours is, although most don't.

I know of a school in Texas that does that too. If, in your school, that it's equivalent to a first brown, then it's a first brown.

    Good job!

The next one will be the cherry on the top!

    Congratulations KellyAnne.

I ave sen red belts used either as a belt before Yellow, where a student learns all the basics. I have also seen it used in the Browns so that people feel like they are geting more for their test dollars instead of a piece of tape.

If you are happy with your training then keep pushing forward and get that Black Belt
    Quality outweighs quantity every time.

Nicely done! Congrats on your accomplishment. This places you ahead of about 95% of folks who start out, and the next one is going to be VERY COOL!

We do not use Red either but I have always thought it was cooler than brown anyway. Sad how soo many people posted about the color of your belt instead of your actual accomplishment....

Keep us posted and I look forward to reading your posts!

Congrats. We have the red belt at our EPAK school. It is prior to the brown belt in our system.
