World Kempo Championships Congratulations

I'm pleased to announce the results of the US Team's participation in the World Kempo Championships 2007.

Congratulations to them all!

The team was Captained by Shihan Robert E. Zingg and the results are available online via the link below but are summarized here in an email sent to me by my own instructor, Five Tme International Champion and now also World Champion, Senior Professor Brian Duffy (don't tell him I put all of this in here if you contact him about this post ).

"The World Kempo Championships [http://internationalkempofederation.com/] was quite an event with teams from Hungary , Romania , Slovakia , Ukraine , Russia , Portugal , Belgium , France , Switzerland , Netherlands , Bulgaria , and the USA .

The US Team did quite well especially considering there were only 4 of us and we were all in the Seniors over 36 years divisions. Here are the results:

Rob Zingg [http://www.zinggskarate.cmasdirect.com/]– Gold Medal - Empty Hand Forms; Gold Medal – Weapons Fighting; Silver Medal – Weapons Forms.

Brian Duffy – Gold Medal – Semi Contact Fighting, 90 kg

Ray Gilbert – Gold Medal – Full Contact Fighting, over 95kg; Gold Medal - Full Contact Knock Down Fighting, over 95 kg; Silver Medal – Weapons Fighting

Doni Pulley – Silver Medal – Full Contact Fighting, 85 kg; Bronze Medal – Full Contact Knock Down Fighting, 85 kg; Bronze Medal – Semi Contact Fighting, 85 kg

I want to thank everyone who sent their support and especially those who donated to help with expenses. Without your help we could not have succeeded.

This seems to be a "traditional" kempo organization/tournament? How did EPAK practioners get involved? Did any of the EPAK people compete in the kata areas? Would our forms even be accepted as "proper" in that type of setting? I think that the USA team did very well, and should receive ample kudos from all! To travel all the way to Hungary for a tournament is amazing in itself. To Mr.Duffy, and the entire US contingent, I say well done sirs, well done...

I may have to ask Mr. Duffy to get all of your answers but
a) the website may detail how traditional it was but they aren't EPAK centered
b) Mr. Duffy told me that the Captain invited lots of Kenpo people including himself. The size of team was not limited. Few "EPAK" people responded to the invitation to join the team
c) Mr. Duffy did Tiger and Crane I think, I don't know if Mr. Gilbert did forms
d) Mr. Duffy is an EPAK guy and they liked his judging of forms
