Amy, since you seem to be the resident "expert" can you fill us all in on some of the aspects of 5.0?
"It is sobering to reflect that one of the best ways to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding fathers used in the struggle for independence." – Charles A. Beard
So far, my knowledge consists of a 2 1/2 semi-private lesson with Mr. Speakman. He showed me around 8 techniques and I don't remember all of them. It was a lot of info all at once.
What he's done is moved some of the techniques into their natural family groupings, taken out some of the techniques that he feels would not be effective on the street, changed some existing techniques to improve their effectiveness and added some more ground fighting and knife techniques.
One of the knife tech. he showed me I thought was a little over the top, but I feel that way about most of the knife techniques. Slice, slice, stab, scrape, slice more. The attacker would be a bloody mass of meat.
The DVDs will be out soon and when I know more, I'll share more.

Kenpo 5.0 is basically ground fighting techniques. It starts teaching actual ground fighting techniques in the orange belt level. As far as challenges go, it is definately one. I have a blast in the Jeff Speakman school in Dove Creek.

I think they will be shipped out this Saturday if all goes well.
Jeff Speakman is on the cover of BB Magazine this month. He'll be talking about the new 5.0 stuff.
I'm heading to one of the other Speakman schools this Saturday to get a taste of what they're doing.
Small world, but the owner of the school used to a person student of one of my favorite instructors. Small world.
