For anyone looking to purchase the Journey that is a great starting price.

Will you be opening your own school Ceicei?

I've been looking for this for sometime with little success. I'll try my best to win the bid. Thanks for posting.

Well, some day I will set one up, but not at this point. I am currently a 2nd brown and will need to train to 1st brown, then to black. I don't think there is enough respect out there by my peers for a brown to start a school (nor do I have the experience anyway). I'm just thinking over my options of what I can do to reach that goal and beyond.

Ceicei, have you thought about starting or running a training group with some of the current students? This would keep you active and give you regular training partners. Also, if you have to travel for privates, several of you could split the expenses, and you get more out of it if there are several people to remember what was covered instead of just you.

Been there, so I don't envy you. But it can work out. And don't sell yourself short on the respect or ability, either. As long as you are honest, most people will understand. The ones that don't can go to the local belt factory and purchase their expertise any way they want.

    Wish you the best!

    I still don't feel like a brown could lead/set up a studio.

There were two schools, affliated together but operated separately. The first went out a few months ago, the second was just recently. There is a lot more to this--I really don't want to get into that here.

Some day, I will set up a studio again with the same logo and name. The time isn't now, but there will come a day it will be alive. My instructor knows about my goals and wants to remain involved when I do that.

I tried to set up a study group the past few weeks. We are losing our place to train, so I will have to seek elsewhere. I also need to find a way to continue training so that I can obtain a black belt. I would love to continue having private lessons; right now circumstances are such that I cannot take them from my instructor until things stabilize for him.

Well, don't give up on your training. You know what you know, keep practicing in whatever way you can, in your yard, in a park, in your basement, whereever. If other students want to join you in practicing together, welcome them in. Don't drop the momentum, don't worry about the rank. What is important is that you keep training.

Thank you for those of you who bought "The Journey" books. They're sold out, I have no more.

Are you referring to whether he sells "The Journey" books? He might be selling those books. If you are referring to training at his schools, then I used to train under Bobby for two years in the early part of 1990's at his Orem school before he changed his Kenpo style a bit. I will say that Bobby and his wife, Charlene, are excellent instructors. His sons, Dallas and Justus, also know their stuff well and they all run their Lawrence karate schools which are located in several cities in Utah and also in California.

Thank you for suggesting them. They (Bobby Lawrence's) are good schools. However, I have finally made my decision to train at an EPAK style kenpo school under Mr. Josh Young and started there recently. Mr. Young will allow me to keep my current rank; since I am this close to getting my black belt, he will continue to train me using the same technique lists I had. I appreciate that....

Cool! I'm glad you are able to continue along your own "journey" without hitting too many potholes!
