At the time, he was Saviano's White Tiger Kenpo. He is completely MMA now.

At the time of that fight Emaunale Yarborough was 606 lbs. Hackney did more damage to himself than he did to Yarborough though. He broke his hand in his first fight of the night and was unable to continue

He did that from the hammerfists to the back of Yarborough's head and it was one of the first strikes in that series of 30+. Yet he continued to pound on him and in the end he won. It wasn't until after the fight that his hand started swelling like a balloon, just as Yarborough was limping the next day, from the sidekick or two Keith hit him with in his leg. Just as in the real world, how much someone hurts tomorrow does not matter, its the hurt you put on them in the now that does. Anyways. he wasn't the only one that couldn't continue after their first fight back in those days.

I sort of missed the days when the only rules where no biting and eye gouging. But I'm kinda sick that way.

That was better than I recall. Well done Mr. Hackney. Who'd have thought on paper that the much, much smaller guy would not get killed. It looked like the big guy tapped out or something too. Thanks for posting the link.

I haven't seen that in forever. It was much better than I remember.

I realized when I was done watching it that I had a horrified look plastered to my face.

Why would anyone pair those guys up? And Hackney just kept pounding the guy's head. It was obscene.

The whole thing was obscene. (shudder)

The early UFCs weren't "paired" matches, they were single elimination tournaments. This was a random first round matchup of a 8 man tournament.

What was obscene about it? It just shows you how tough some folks are, and what it might take to put one of them down.

Again, more horror. Why would someone want to DO that? It is a guy thing?

I loved Keith Hackney's Heel Palm Claws even Hoyce Gracie wanted no part of those.
If you notice that is what he knocked the 600 lb Giant down with,An Overhead Heel Palm Claw Strike.

I wouldn't be so sure it was random. My instructor, who was his coach at the time, said there was nothing random about it (although they tried to make it appear that way). The promoters didn't expect Hackney to win and where expecting Yarborough to go to the next round and fight Gracie.

youd think as a kenpoist after a few shots to the back (with a forearm or elbow) of the head he'd throw in a knee to the face or something not just keep pounding the guy in the back of the head/neck over and over..

He was slamming the guy in the...what is that...the Mastoid process?

He was slamming the guy in that bundle of nerves that makes ya see stars when it is hit. That Kenpoist knew exactly what he was doing.

Have you considered that the guy was 3 times Keith's body weight. I saw Yarborough curling 200+ pounds on one of the pre-fight interviews and made it look like it was nothing. Now would you really want to be on one leg and possibly allow him to grab your leg?

The kenpoist was quick, and moved each time almost perfectly. Stick and move. VS someone that size, you really cant just open up and start wailing on him with all of your moves because that big black guy coulda probrably take the hits first, so he stuck and moved to drain him slowly.

Anyone else have any other kenpoist fights? Or is this the only guy who was familiar with kenpo in the ring?
