    Default Morgan Seabrook

On Wednesday night, I promoted my daughter, Morgan, to advanced white belt in American Kenpo Karate. She was really pumped about it. She does an amazing Blocking Set 1. It means so much promoting your own children. I have waited all of my life for this opportunity.

As a special surprise for Morgan (and the rest of my family, of course), I took the day off yesterday and took them all to the Toronto Zoo.

Just thought I would share this....

    How exciting!

I'm sure she was very proud and it's obvious you are very proud of her.

I promoted my husband to second stripe yellow belt a week or so ago. That was pretty cool too. Not as exciting as promoting your child, but still pretty good.

    Again, congratulations.

My 6 yr old Daughter recently received her yellow in Shaolin kempo.

The other day I taught her the next technique she needs, and she gave me a big hug and a kiss and said "Thank You Daddy". I was knocked off my feet...

Initially, I was planning on putting Morgan in a different martial arts studio so she wouldn't have to learn from "daddy".

But with so many McDojos around that hand black belts out to kids like candy, I wanted to make sure she learned self-defense correctly the FIRST time.

    NO COMPROMISE.

    JUST HARD WORK.

Why didn't you send her to Captain Knock Out, she would be a brown belt by now, and in 3 years and several thousand dollars later she would be the same rank as you

But seriously congratulations are in order. And the Toronto Zoo is an amazing place.

But you are not arguing the point are you? You should have taken her to Patti & Farons for the tournament. She would have loved the obstacle course and a strong Blocking set can always take a 2nd or possibly a 1st depending on here age.

This is a great feeling...congrats to your daughter and you! My oldest daughter is a junior purple belt and my youngest will test for her junior yellow next week. I am just glad that they spend some karate time with dad and it is something unique to us.
Nice to have the family around sometime

Super cool! I bet you're really stoked! Of course, being your daughter I'm sure you'll train her thuroughly and she'll definately know her stuff!

If you can believe it, Morgan is competing in her first tournament this Saturday at the "Battle of London". She only turns 4 on June 26th, and she is competing in the 6 and under Kyu Belt divisions.

She will be entering in Forms, Self-Defense, and "Fitness". I am her uke in self-defense, so I am getting ready for her to blast me with some shots, LOL.

    Quick update:

Morgan took 1st place in self-defense and gave me a beating in the process....I was her uke (two groin kicks, 1 knee to the head, plus she choked me with a club, LOL).

She is quite proud of her trophy, but I am most proud of her courage to compete.
