    Very nice.

It totally reminds me of the way that we do "attack and defend" on our forms. See, in Ralph Castro's Shaolin Kenpo, all of our techniques are put together into forms. It is similiar to Long 4-Long 6 in American Kenpo in that the forms are combinations of techniques. So, instead of technique lines, we do our forms in lines with attackers. We practice with 1 or 4 attackers. The 4 attacker version looks realistic, but when you are doing the techniques on just one attacker, it looks like you are fighting superman because all of your strikes just bounce off of him and he attacks again.

I really liked the initial defense against the gun. I was really shocked when he kept attacking.

    Very impressive!

    One question:

I had to pause and pause again, due to your speed and the low quality of YOUTUBE videos! From the angle of the video it is hard to tell where the weapon is pointing. My question is, are you maneuvaring the weapon so that it is no longer pointed at you? Anything else would be just dangerous.

I thank you for your comments...let's see, first off, exactly, the premise is (and I explain this on the youtube description part), that the guy is pretty much indestructable (or on drugs and will not stop)...but most important, the guy has said he is going to kill me, so I have no choice...the kenpo creed in action. As for the direction of the gun, it is on my head point blank...the defense posture sets up for the two off angle strikes such that, theoretically, even if it fires, it is aimed off to the right...

The Youtube video makes it hard to see what is happening. Thanks for clarifying, and again, very impressive! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your comments...but/and I will say one more thing, not related to anything you have said really...at that point, if someone puts a gun right on your forehead and you're able to get your hands up into that posture (lots of IF's), AND the guy says he's "going to kill you"...you have NO CHOICE...you have to do something because either way, he will pull the trigger...of course, it's all theoretical (the whole of the kenpo system I think so much of is a collection of techniques, theoretical studies of motion)...I am not responding to you, jarhead...I'm just front running what always seems to happen...no one does kenpo the same...and people, I have heard, even criticize Tatum or Speakman...I did the video for me, for posterity and it turned out exactly as I wanted (I was exhausted, however)...but is my personal interpretation of the art...thank you again,
    respectfully,
    Jim

We recently had a class where we used airsoft pistols to test if we would get shot.

One of the best maneuvers used for a gun pointed like that was to drop down into a low stance while simultaneously bringing your arms up, pushing through the attacker's arm and grabbing the wrist. If I remember correctly no one was 'shot' doing this particular defense.

Similar to your method with our action beating their reaction, we just went the opposite direction for moving the gun offline.

    Thanks for posting!

thanks for the respectful reply...as for me (although I know EVERYONE teaches this philosophy), I am extremely skeptical of techniques that have you GRAB the gun...good luck...it is a good idea in theory...but no one ever knows unless s/he actually has to face that day...should s/he grab or try some other technique...I don't claim to know the answer.
