    Default authoring DVDs

    does anyone know of a freeware dvd authoring utility? i dont need fancy menus, just something that'll play on a dvd player.. dvd format or just even vcd format.

    i have Nero 5 if thats any help.

    Nero has great utilities for doing exactly what you are looking for.
    Quality outweighs quantity every time.

    version 5? i was able to make a vcd, but the video is to fast, and the sync is off. dunno tinker time

    I use Roxio. Is that the kind of thing you mean?

    I don't know that there are any freeware versions of it though.

    Try DVDStyler. I haven't actually used this particular piece of software, but it looks as though it will do what you're looking for. And it's Open Source Freeware!
