    Default Photo's - Warbirds

I spent yesterday at the 2007 Geneseo Air Show, and it was packed!

Loads of fun, great flying and they even had a wing walker this year. Pretty cool

    I took oh...1,900 shots.

Here's 6 that I think really turned out well.

I'm waiting on my print order to be ready so I can check the quality of these. If they look good, I'll be putting 8x10 prints up for sale. (Bout time I start doing this I think, lol)

    Anyway, enjoy!

Bob, this is the kind of photography you should do professionally! That F-16 pic is to DIE FOR!

That P-51 being in the same frame as the F-16 is awesome. And as much of a Corsair fan that I am I have to say that the B-25 is probably the one I like the most.

Nice ones! You caught it very well. Nicely done.

Oh and if you could get superman in one of those shots with the planes, it would be even better! Maybe one of him holding up the plane? hmmm. Oh wait, wrong thread I think.

    Thank you

I'd love to do this regularly, but the gear up is pricey. Lens and camera, about $10k to really do it right (ie posters) But...I'm researching it.

Pictures are very nice. Did you rent gear or use your own? If you don't mind me asking, what were your focal lengths and f-stops?

    Thanks

    Thank you.
    Own gear, all Nikon.
    most shots were F5.6, 150-200mm

I'm hoping to have a bit longer lens next time. I spent some time talking to a gent with a bazoka on his Canon, 400mm with a 2x converter and VR. His shots were sweeeeet!

I've never seen the F-16 referred to as a 'viper'. Do you know why this one is? Normally, this aircraft is called a 'Falcon', isn't it?

Shaw Air Force Base is home to the Viper East Team, one of two F-16 aerial demonstration teams in Air Combat Command. The F-16 Fighting Falcon, more commonly known to military pilots as the Viper, is a compact, extremely maneuverable multi-role fighter aircraft. The F-16 has proven itself in air-to-air combat as well as air-to-surface attack. It provides a relatively low-cost, high-performance weapon system for the air forces of the United States and other allied nations.

Nice pics. I've got a 100-300 that goes down to 4.7, which is fine for most outdoors stuff, and I may try it at an airshow this August, but for Gymnastics, where no flash or strobe is allowed, it just won't do. I'd like a 300 f2.8 or so, but they are so $$$$. I'm debating on taking it on a backpacking trip coming up, as it's pretty heavy, but I know if I don't take it, I'll end up missing some fine wild animal shot...

    Great shots, Bob!

Brings back memories of losing what were few and far between days off when I was in the USAF. They never failed to have an Air Show on one of my days off and I never failed to get "volunteered" to do security for it!
    Thanks for the memories!

Yesterday, while looking at that site, I read the story about how a pilot had to land the plane, without landing gear down, the day before its premier at the Paris Airshow. Apprantley, the landing gear jammed in an earlier flight, so they put in a 'fix'. The fix didn't work. When the plane landed, there were five gallons of fuel in the aircraft. .... Now, that, is running on fumes.

    Bob,

Did there happen to be a B52 there?

Not this year while we were there. I don't think the runway there is long enough.
