Question Another what to do thread

As of the last few months I have noticed my schools classes getting smaller and smaller. The adult classes anyway and I don’t want to cross any lines since I am just a student at the school. But I want to ask my instructor if there is anything I can do to help advertise the school. I wear school t shirts all the time and have pointed more than one person in my instructor’s direction. But I am worried about offending my instructor. I know he has run his own school for 25 years and I know he doesn’t need my help but I am willing too if he would accept. I was thinking he could have another magnetic sign made up and I would place it on the tail gate of my truck. I had one for a friends Herbalife stuff he was selling. It seemed to get him some sales.

I just wanted to get the general feeling from ya’ll. Would I be out of place in offering this? I don’t think my school would ever close the doors but it is a business and with out money coming in. Well you know what that means

I guess it depends on your relationship with your instructor. I think if you approach it just the way you did in your post (hey I just want to help) he'll be glad for the offer. But i don't know him. Nice to see that you care though

I agree. I think this is the right way to go about it.

I was in a similar situation once. My instructor was very new to it though. I offered may ways that I could help. He was in a bad enough situation that he just frankly asked the students if we could afford to give him any more money above and beyond our tuition to help him keep the doors open.

I had some extra money, but instead of just paying his rent for a month (which would leave us in the same problem just 30 days later) I offered to spend the same amount on trying to get some students. He gave me a tentative go-ahead. So I designed a tri-fold mailer (a skill I had form my job) and I even purchased a targeted demographic list from a sales lead company. I produced a few copies of the flier, and gave him the MS Publisher files ( he wanted to make some small changes) and the leads disk and told him, when he was ready to pull the trigger, I make the copies and pay all the postage!

He completely blew it off and 60 days later closed his doors. The man was a good martial artist but a poor businessman. I am much happier now under my new teacher. I have no idea why he derailed my project... control issues maybe.
