No novels, those are pretty rare. I'm working thru the Infinite Insights series again and I Samuel in the Bible. I am wrking thru Asian Health Secrets and a Shiatsu textbook whose name I don't recall. I love these types of questions! I'm always checking out book shelves and bookstores.

The Haj was a good book, it's been a while though. I ran out of books, need to go to the library. I'm reading some sci-fi deal that uses a lot of Kipling quotes in the beginning of the chapters, not very intelligent but entertaining. I also read the Bible every morning.

Y'all are reading lots of heavy things.

I like detective novels, certain types of mysteries, attorney novels, medical books like Robin Cook, etc.

Before I had my website, I used to read a book about every two days, but now that I have so much to read for work (plus I spend a ridiculous amount of time reading stuff here), I don't get as much chance to read good books.

It's kind of like being in college again -- required reading comes first.

Yeah, I don't read much for fun anymore after going to grad school and getting a teaching post. If I read, it would be mostly fantasy/sci-fi. So far the SciFi channel and movies are giving me that fix -- plus it is a lot more work.

Ghost Soldiers, by Hampton Sides. It's a factual account of the operation to rescue survivors of the Bataan Death March, and others, from Cabanatuan POW Camp. Truth is often more griping, and always more inspiring, than fiction. Also gives a real sense of respect for the men that fought that war, and for our Fillipinos allies- as well as a sense of the depths of depravity that otherwise civilised cultures can sink to. Good book.

I'd also recomend Flyboys and Flags of Our Fathers as good reads on the War in the Pacific.

I just finished Blood and Treasure, by Donald S. Frazier. It's a history about the real beginings of the War Between the States (it didn't start at Fort Sumter) and the battle for western empire. Also immortalizes the deeds of a bunch of crazy, stubborn, often foolish but always dangerous Texans in a little known arena of that war. Another good read.

I picked up a new book entirely on impulse this morning. I was leaving the mall parking lot after buying a new pair of work pants when I drove past Barns & Noble. I love books and book stores (B&N isnít really my favorite I much prefer used book stores) so I stopped and went in.

I found myself in the 'Eastern Religion' section. It was there I ran across a book called Hardcore Zen Punk Rock Monster Movies & the truth about reality by Brad Warner.

Normally I shy away from Zen books as they inevitably promise enlightenment and yada yada yada. This one so far has been different and I'm enjoying it greatly.

    "The Journy" by Joe Hyams.
I've made it a mission to have as many of the people in it autograph it as possible! I've got two so far. After this February in Florida I hope to have a few more.
