It's a place to talk about Kenpo. How cool is that?

    Lots of information.

Not a lot of fighting, rudeness, or "kenpo-kas behaving badly".

And you, Rob! You know so much about Kenpo, you are happy to share it, and you contribute to all of the discussions. It's great to have your input

I stumbled across KT looking for martial arts forums to pass the time at my last extremely boring job. I wasn't too happy with the ones I'd found prior to coming across KT. The reason I stick around here is because for the most part everyone is mature enough and intelligent enough to provide good posts. I've learned a lot from the posts here. KT is an excellent resource.

I found this b/c of CC. It just kinda snow balled from there. It's nice to have a happy place to journey back to at the end of every day!

Friendly, productive discussion about Kenpo without the BS of attacking each other over "factions" and the like.

The people keep me here, I enjoy posting and reading their posts.

Thanks for keeping this board going.

Exactly. When I decided to come back to kenpo, I knew that I wanted to network and meet more kenpoist that were sincere in their passion for the art. Couple that with the vast experience and the mutual respect that is shown here how could one not feel welcome.

I believe generally there are better conversations here plus they seem to be more level headed.

That sums it up right there. Those are the types of Kenpoist I like to be around.

    I'm here for the food.

Seriously, I had gone to kenponet for awhile and found that, not only is it horrible the way the forum is set up (really hard to find new threads, etc), but one person on there was dogging every post I made and I don't need that kind of headache.

So I started posting here and found it to be, with a few exceptions, a warm and friendly place to share ideas. And I've made some friends -- Many of whom I look forward to seeing in Maryland in a few weeks.

I found this place a few days ago. I was looking for a good Kempo website, and this is the first Kempo place I found with a forum. I found Martialtalk the same night, but they banned me as soon as I registered because they wanted my full last name and I didn't want to provide it. Screw them. I don't know that website owner, and I'm not about to sign up all my personal details. It might turn out he is a good person who runs a good website, or he might decide to sell info later on. Did I mention I hate telemarketers, bulk mail, and the intrusive nature of advertising? Anyways, I found this place because someone at Martialtalk had a link in their signature pointing here.

The same person who owners KenpoTalk owns martialtalk. As he said in the thread about What is Needed. He is very big on privacy, it is becoming more and more important for sites like MartialTalk and KenpoTalk ot have more information about its members to ensure they are not infiltrated by hackers and spammers. I little inconvience during the sign up process in order to give better safety to its members.

Asking for a last name will not stop spammers, they will just lie. How hard would it be to write "Mike Smith" or "Ron Jacobson" as the name? Anyone can lie about that and nobody would know. I hate lying or being put in a situation where someone wants me to do something I don't want to do. There are many websites that were sold along with all the user data to large companies. It happens. I like the forum, but if the price is losing privacy I'd rather go somewhere else. It would be different if I knew the website owner, then I would not care because I would know what type of guy he is. But for all I know "he" could be a 70 year old woman or a 17 year old guy. There is no real way to verify any information anyone says.

Who knows if I'll ever meet anyone from here. We all like Kempo so it is possible. I would hate to be in a position to say "My name really isn't Mike Smith, it's .....". I trust people face to face, but not on the internet.

On MartialTalk the last name field is only visible to staff of the site. And yes people lie on their information, but it does stop Bots from creating accounts and causing problems.

I've personally met more than a few from here and will meet more at the next camp I go to. It's great to sort of know someone when I walk into a new venue.

Bob owns this forum and he's great. I've never had a problem with my info being passed out and he's very conscious about security.

    No worries.

We're all really friendly on this forum.
