Default What is the best uniform value?

It has been awhile since I bought a new gi and I am due for another...I was wondering what y'all recommend? I know Tokaido's were the best back in the day-

I have a Hayashi that I like and I have a really old "Golden Turtle" which I do not believe is still around-

What do you folks recommend for a good middle/heavyweight gi for regular use? Needs to be available in black obviously.

    Thanks in advance!

I have been very happy with Century's Ironman uniform for weekly use (2-3 times a week) it has kept it's color well and has held up pretty good for over a year now.

www.martialartsmart.com has the new Ed Parker signature line that when I get a little extra money I might try one out.

I really like the Juka Gold! Tess and I both wear them and my students are now investing in them.
Just because you do something one way, does not mean that everyone else does it that way, or that it is even the correct way.

Hey Sieg, what company did you guys get your FMA looking uniforms from? I really liked the red trimmed/stripped look.

    This one Brian?

I do believe they quit making the competition Team Gi's that we used to wear Brian.. I think we got them from either Tigerclaw or Century..

    Similar pants are here..
    http://www.centuryfitness.com/webapp...egory_rn=13506

The top was velcro, short at the waist..
I haven't seen them in a couple of years.. We retired them for the Juka Gold.

Most wore the striped contact pants.. I preferred the lace up ones.. but now I really like the Juka

Wacuko makes an awesome brushed cotton heavyweight uniform. The black get am amazing spidery effect, and the brushed cotton feels so soft. Great uniform, great price.

My preferred gi is the Juka Silver, I have two that have served me in good stead over the past 6 years that I have owned them.

I don't really like the new Hayashi (same cut as Ed Parker Signature) because the body is wider and the armpit starts 2 inches lower. I use it as a tournament gi, and while I can't say it impacts my performance, it just feels weird.

Century custom services can do a uniform for you with any design or special features you want Brian, the only draw back is you have to order 10 at a time.

Tiger Claw carries two versions of that:

    http://www.martialartsmart.net/junwarun11.html

It doesn't have the double striping, but the first is pretty similar.

If you don't mind me asking where do you order your equipment from? There are not a lot of good companies here in Ontario so I am always looking for suppliers.

Check out the links here if you want a uniform that will stand the test of time. You may have to pay for it, but it is better than replacing them frequently.

    http://www.doshinmartialarts.com/karate1.html

and my favorite "value-wise" is KI, black or white 14 oz heavyweight brushed canvas for under $80

    http://www.ki-international.com/KI_BhvyGi.html

As you can see on Doshin, you can pay a lot more for a uniform.
