Default WHat art (other than yours) are you fascinated with?

I started in TKD then moved to Kempo then was fortunate to train in Aikido for a little over a year in the mid 90's. I loved it! I enjoy the literature on Aikido, I love to watch classes and I always felt that soo many principles of Aikido can be applied to other arts (although many arts share principles) but I am sure y'all know what I mean.

I respect MANY arts but I am really fascinated with Aikido-

Another would be Wing-Chun which I am drawn to also-

    How about you folks?

    Cheers!

For me it is Kara Ho Kempo, and Capoeira, followed by Modern Arnis.

Actually this is probably the best place for this thread since it is not about any specific art.

i would have to say Serrada Escrima and Battojutsu.
i really like the close fighting aspect of serrada and the speed.
i like batto because it focuses on using the sword.....drawing and actually practice cutting.

Pekiti-Tirsia Kali, in the last year I started studying the art and along with two of the other kenpo BBs were able to start a training group. Great art!

I would have to say that I am facinated by any style but if I had to pick a couple I would say Akido and Jui-jitsu.

Rob Broad- That is cool that you are interested in Kara-Ho! Please do not hesitate to ask any questions about our art and if I do not know the answer, I will get it for you.

Have you ever met or trained with any of our people?

Take care everybody and have a great day!

I would have to say that I am fascinated with Kung Fu; I have to admit I don’t know much of anything about the styles of Kung Fu. About five years ago I was going to start taking Hung Gar Kung fu at a school in Dallas. I went and sat through a class and was blown away with how they could move with such grace but then hit like a 2x4. Well it was also about that time that my wife became pregnant with my youngest daughter. So it took me until last year to be in a place where I could start back into martial arts. It was a toss up between Kenpo and Kung Fu. And to make a long story short I am lucky enough to have a Kenpo school ten miles away from my home. After I sat through a class then had a private lesion with the instructor I could see that it was a perfect fit.

I have to admit that when my Kenpo instructor showed me some Win Chun, and I think he said 7 animal style I asked him to teach me all he was willing to teach in private classes out side of the Kenpo classes. He declined and said that he didn’t have enough formal training in those styles. But I still would love to add some form of Kung Fu to my Kenpo training one day.

I am really interested in Capoeira. I am more interested in the history and the culture involved and the music. The self defence portion is very magnificent, very different to that of kenpo

Default What other Style would you choose?

Suppose for some reason or another you were unable to study Kenpo, and you had to choose only one other style of Martial Arts to study. Let's assume that all other styles would be available to you. Which one would you choose?

One of the FMAs, probably Pekiti since I already do that, a silat style would be a great alternative.

Would this be the already existing thread mentioned? WHat art (other than yours) are you fascinated with?

If so, I will be more than happy to merge it.
