    Welcome to KT, Mr. German.

Unfortunately I never had a chance to meet GM German.

I am curious though...is Kenpoman still being produced?

Thumbs up Re: Anyone have Questions about Grand Master David German

I'm not sure how often Eric gets over here, I would assume his schedule is rather busy. According to my instructor, KenpoJoe Rebelo, the Kenpo Man's will continue to be produced, although I forget the gentleman's name who makes them. Maybe if Rebelo Sensei or Young Master German pop on, they can shed some light!

That really was a good question. I have seen the KenpoMan and think it is a great device.

    Hi folks!
I've known Eric for as long as I 've known his dad and I've had the honor and pleasure of watching him grow into a fine young man. He's a great person and i'm humbled to be part of his father's and his martial arts legacy. I'll never forgat the TV episode we filmed at Mr. German's Studio in West Covina at 11pm-midnight and the TAI Hurri-cane demo that both Eric and my then-girlfriend Kristi had with that one! I OFFER MY SUPPORT,FRIENDSHIP, AND ETERNAL ASSISTANCE TO ERIC GERMAN.

    TAI Question, Joe...

Some of the TAI SD Techs had clear roots in AK techs, with easy correlations (Daggar set = 5 swords, etc). One of the TAI boyz I trained with for a bit had what he called the "Rolling Talon" techs, #1 and #2. #1 seemed a clear Parting Wings reference, but number 2...in case you know them by diffferent names: RT#2 = defense against a front 2-hand push or double lapel grab, stepping back into a left neutral bow with the left lead hand executing a push-down block to his right wrist, while the right rear hand executes a outward hooking parry, palm up, each at the same time to clear the hands and desatabilize the attacker by getting his limbs off in different directions.

So here's my Q: Which AK tech was the impetus/correlative reference for RT#2? I've bumped into that opening in other "Chinese" & "Hawaiian" kenpo versions as well, but can't quite get the direct correlation with an old or new Parker tech. But I'm also missing a few brain cells.

    Thanks in advance,

    Dave

    Hi Folks!
    Dear Dave,
I had to re-type this post because kenpotalk timed out on me.
    here we go again!
"Rolling Talons" teaches us about circular paths of motion in regards to "OPPOSITES&REVERSES". The LEFT hand moves in a INWARD CLOCKWISE circle from the OUTSIDE around the opponent's RIGHT hand so that it is PALM DOWN on TOP of his right wrist. The RIGHT hand move in a OUTWARD CLOCKWISE circle from around the INSIDE of opponent's LEFT wrist. So that the RIGHT hand is PALM IN w/ the back of your hand on INSIDE of your opponent's left wrist. If you look at glancing lance you will see the same elements [btw: that particular technique was originally 2 seperate techniques that was later grafted into one technique] Look at the hand positions in rolling talons and you'll see a clockwise vertical yin yang pattern [or the basic hand postures of wing chun/ving tsun's "double Chi Sao" [sticky hands]. Also, you can see "Rolling Talons" on David German's "TAI KARATE" dvd from Budo International.
    Thanks for the question!
I hope that I was of some service,
    KENPOJOE

    Hi Folks!
BTW, I forgot to mention that GM German refers to that particular technique as "Rolling Claws" in the Budo International DVD, but it is the same technique. And you should see both numbered vertions you refer to in your earlier post,Dave!
