    Default SL4 Seminar

Dr. Chapél will be conducting a seminar in Central Ohio on Sat. November 8th. Many of you have read his posts here and seen his videos. If you live anywhere nearby, I encourage you to come and see for yourself. And plan to stay after the seminar for dinner with Doc and the rest of the group. We hope to see you there!

There's room for at least 30 people at the studio.

Shucks, I will still be driving (I am moving from Arizona to Michigan that weekend), not quite enough time for me to make it. That stinks big time!!!

I got excited when I saw the location as it is semi-close to where I live. Then I saw the date, and will unavailable.

Are there plans to record the seminar?

If you could only make it for dinner, you are welcome to come.

Generally speaking, video is not available.

Ditto on what Punisher said. I can't make it either. Is anyone planning on recording it?

Thanks for the invite, but I will be having some minor surgery the previous day so travel (or doing much of anything) will not be an option.

Jason, thanks for coming. I felt doc gave a remarkable seminar. 4 hours spent mostly on how to step into a neutral bow forward backward and changing angles. Doc is able to break down all the details of how to move efficiently with good structural integrity throughout the transition. He is able to demonstrate that this method improves stance stability and teach even a klutz like me to do it better.

I was impressed with how well Doc Chapel kept the room interested despite working only on basics and not showing any flashy fireworks. Thanks to Andrew for helping engineer the seminar and Doc and Ryan for providing such excellent instruction.

I think everyone had a great time and learned lots of good information. Everyone there picked up the material quickly, which I think is a testament to the quality of the teachers, in particular Mr. Farnsworth and Mr. Hatfield. And of course this was also because of all dedicated learners, many of whom stayed an extra two hours to cover more material. I think Doc and Mr. Angell will be back soon.

For those of you that missed it, keep your eyes peeled for next time; you don't want to miss it again.

Other than being scheduled for 2.5 hrs -jab -, the seminar was great. Also, the dinner afterwards was very good. It is nice to be able to discuss and share ideas not necessarily related to the martial arts.

It is also very cool to see the people's expressions who've not attended a SL4 seminar when somthing that seems as trivial as a curled finger completely collapses the entire body structural support. The gentleman that came with me completely enjoyed the kool aid also and we are looking forward for the next time Dr. Chap'el is in the Ohio Valley region.

only 2.5? We scheduled about 16 (2 days) LOL. Maybe that's why we didn't get so many attendees? How long can you drink from a firehose anyway?

It's been my experience that the longer times do seem to scare people away. Not really sure why that is.

What a great seminar!! Neutral Bow, Rear Bow, and footwork...and everyone was captivated. I know we touched on a lot more than just that, but it's really great to see people so eager to go over basics. But, than again the way Dr. Chapel teaches them they're not really "basic".

It was a pleasure being back in Ohio. What a great group of people. Thanks to Andrew King for having us back. And, thanks to Mr. Hattfield for hosting the seminar at his studio.

I'm sure we'll be back and as I mentioned to a few people during the seminar - my wife is from Ohio so I'm there from time to time and will set up seminars with Mr. King.

LOL it sounds like one good way to get SL-4 instruction in yoru area is to marry off a local girl to one of Doc's students... hmmmm... maybe next time I come out there I'll bring my daughter and introduce her to Mr. Ota should be about the right age...
