    Default 2nd Annual Pittsburgh Martial Arts Camp - August 11th & 12th, 2007

On the weekend of August 10th, 2007; my school, United Parker’s Kenpo Karate, will be hosting the 2nd Annual Pittsburgh Martial Arts Camp. This camp will feature the instruction of two amazing martial arts masters, Grandmaster Ciriaco "Cacoy" Canete and Senior Professor Zach Whitson.

The legendary Ciriaco "Cacoy" Canete of Cebu Philippines is a prominent, internationally known martial artist who travels the globe to share, teach and demonstrate his martial art skills to others. "Cacoy" Canete is the last surviving member and the only 12th Degree Black Belt and the highest ranking member of the fame Doce Pares Eskrima Club. He started Eskrima at the age of 7 under the oldest of eight, brother "Momoy". Now almost 89 years old, Grandmaster “Cacoy” promotes his art for self-defense, sport, and personal well-being. (Please note that three days before the camp, Grandmaster Cacoy will be celebrating his 89th birthday! We look forward to celebrating his life and contributions to the martial arts throughout the weekend!)

Senior Professor Zach Whitson is a nationally known martial artist with thirty one years experience. This experience includes a Mataas na Guro "Master Instructor" rank in the blade art of Pekiti Tirsia Kali, a 7th Degree Black Belt in Ed Parker’s American Kenpo and a 3rd Degree Black Belt in Cacoy Doce Pares. Senior Professor Whitson is also the founder of the Counterpoint Tactical System.

The camp will begin on Saturday, August 11th with a full-day seminar (10am to 5pm) featuring Grandmaster “Cacoy” Canete. The training will then commence on Sunday, August 12th with a full-day seminar (10am to 5pm) featuring Professor Zach Whitson.

The cost of the event is as followed:
$125/ Saturday (Grandmaster “Cacoy” Seminar Only)
$175/ Saturday and Sunday (GM “Cacoy” and Professor Whitson Seminars)

For more information or to register for this event, you may contact me directly at (412) 621-5425 or visit our website at http://www.pittsburghkarate.com.

Last year’s camp was awesome with visitors traveling from as far as Sweden to attend. This year will be no different! Join us for an exciting weekend of martial arts training.

    Respectfully,
    Joshua Ryer

    Mr. Seabrook,

Grandmaster Canete could state any rank in my mind. He is just an amazing martial artists. But on a serious note, I am not sure how the Doce Pares rank structure goes to.

Oh FINE! Have a really cool camp across the country from me!

The least you could do is move everyone over here so it would be convenient for me to attend!

On a serious note, that sounds like a fun event. I love camps and seminars. I've become quite addicted. Wish I could be there.
