    Default Learn the Saber

    Hello Everyone,

If any of you are interested in learning the saber, and live close to Ontario, I will be teaching a seminar in London, ON, on May 26th from 6-8pm at the Berkshire Club. I will be teaching an entire form, called 'Orr Fai Do Fa'. The saber is one the most revered weapons in Chinese Kung Fu and this form is excellent for competition.

I will see if I can free up that weekend for a visit to my mother so I can attend the seminar. Would be nice to break out my 9 Ring Broadsword again.

    Dang.

I would LOVE to learn the saber.

It would be a bit of a drive from Sacramento, CA though. About a zillion hours, roughly.

Videotape it and put some clips up for us poor slobs who can't attend.

    Please?

    Jamie,

You speaking of a chinese broadsword, butter fly swords or a Tai Chi type longsword?

I trained in Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu for 6 years we learned a few different "swords" just curious which one this is.

Very cool. Would love to see it.

Chinese Broadsword for the seminar, although I know the other weapons you mentioned as well.

    Cheers.

Wish I could be there. I love that weapon.

Will you be filming any of it? Would love to see even a short clip.

    Thanks,

The cost is $25 if you are bringing a saber, or $50 if you don't have a saber and would like a wooden one to keep.

The seminar is at the Berkshire Club, in London, Ontario, located at 500 Berkshire Drive.

The saber seminar is next Friday and we've got some good talent coming out to learn it.

If anyone else is in the area and would like to come, just send me a PM.

Not sure if there will be anyone that you know specifically since it's mostly people from my neck of the woods. I do have a few black belts signed up, including a 5th degree black belt under Mike Donovan.

It should be a great time.

Are you still able to make it?

I am working on it. If I have another student that wants to go down then I will definitely go. But for me to take the bus or train would be murder on my pocket book. I was trying to organize it with a visit to my mother but she will in Sault Ste. Marie next weekend.

How did the seminar turn out?

I went down to visit family for a week, and couldn't find anyone that could drive me from Chatham to London once I got there.

    The seminar went very well.

We had about 10 people out, mostly brown and black belts.
