I just finished crunching the numbers we only need 20 pre-registered participants to make this camp a huge success. By the end of the weekend I will have all the registration form finished and ready to send out anyone interested in attending the camp.

Do we have anyone here on KenpoTalk interested in attending so I will know who to send the information pack to.

    Hi Rob,

Let me speak for one of my students on KenpoTalk (ha, ha...sorry Scott).

Definitely send one to Scott Southwell.

P.S. For everyone on KenpoTalk - I know all of the Kenpo instructors at this event. Trust me, you will learn so much about this camp, it could very well be your best small investment in 2006!

I have started to get some inquiries about this camp. Things are shaping up nicely.

Here is what we have so far.
    *Orange Belt Extensions 3 Classes
    *Kenpo Takedowns 1 Class
    *Street Applications 1 Class
    *Family Groupings 1 Class
*Stick Work 2 Classes Modern Arnis bring your escrima
    *Kenpo Footwork 1 Class
*Systema Class - 1 Class Experience this Russian Martial Art for yourself
*Yawara - 1 Class A small stick that packs a big punch
*Short Stick - 1 Class A 2nd small stick that has a lot of great appliciations

Plus 3 more 1 hour classes at this camp.

Each participant will recieve a free short stick, all pre-registered participants will recieve a yawara for free as well.

We have great rates on a local hotel. Plus there are lots of camp grounds around the area for those who would rather camp than stay in a motel.

We are looking for feed back for what else people would like to see at the camp.

I am doing my run of cutting Short Sticks and Yawara this weekend. Would be nice to know some number to get things going. Do we have anyone from this site that will be attending? If so please chime in, I don't want to have to make extra short sticks at the last minute.

    This camp will be electrifying.

We are really going to go out of our way to make sure your skills are greatly improved over the course of the weekend.

There will be T-Shirts available for this event but only for those who pre-register. The shirts are $20 Canadian.

We will also be filming a DVD the weekend of the camp and be sold at a discount to all of those who attend the camp, and at a slightly higer price to everyone who was able to attend.

I just checked with the hotel and no one booked a room at the reserved rate, that means if no one books a room by midnight on May 9th people will be paying more for their rooms. This being a tourist town, and a big wedding town for the month of June, rooms will be scarce and not cheap. luckily ther are lots of nearby camping grounds.

The plan is to video all the classes, and release a "Best Of" video, but at this time we have not had any pre-registrations other than my own students. Pre-registration closes next Monday, and everyone missed the hotel discount. So if we don't get some outside pre-registrations I am gonna cancel and find an event in Southern Ontario to attend around that time.

Unfortunately, North Bay might not be the best of places to host a Kenpo camp.

That stated, I want to thank Rob Broad so much for his unending commitment to make this happen, his dedicated service to the art of American Kenpo Karate, and the fact that even though distance seperates us, I consider him a close friend.

Well it is official that I will not be bringing a bunch of instructors, I am still teaching all that weekend. I promised my students that I would put on a small event for them since we could not make it down to Patti & Faron Whiteye's tournament.

So that weekend I will be teaching Yawara, Short Stick, Knife and Belt. Each weapons session will consist of 8 self defense techniques against an uppercut, downward swing, round house swing, backward swind, lapel grab, straight punch, rar bear hug and two attackers after the person has learned all 8 techniques they put them in to a form that covers 12:00, 6:00, 3:00, 9:00, 1:30. 7:30, 4:30 and 10:30. There will also be classes on spontaneity and flow drills.

This event is mainly for my students but is still open to anyone who wants to attend the cost for the weekend is $60 for 15 hours of classes, and if enough interest appears i will be bringing up one of the instructors that was listed from the previous camp.

The big camp isn't happening but we are still having a much smaller boot camp. Still going to be 15 hours of training, Yawara, Short Stic, Knife and Belt. Plus how to build your spontaneity.

The price is much lower now simce the camp is smaller only $60 Canadian or $50 US, hope to see some people from more than just my school.

Taught the first 3 hours of the Boot Camp tonight and loved every second of it. We spent 90 minutes on the 10 Master Key techniques doing them over and over in a technique line. Then we did 90 minutes of yawara work.

WoW! I can see why you call it "boot camp".
