Default What rank is your teacher?

I was thinking about this last night. I am fortunate to train with a Godan (5th) in Kara-Ho Kempo (which is VERY high for us) and I was wondering what rank your instructors are?

I am a pretty low rank compared to many of you but I feel fortunate to be in the training situation I am in.

So what rank is your teacher?

My instructor is a 5th in Kenpo. He also holds a 1st or 2nd in Tae-Kwon-Do. He never brings that up though, I just know he used to instruct at one of the TKD shcools years and years ago before finally finding someone to teach him Kenpo.

That reminds me of a story he told me. He said he was never that good in tournament sparring until he became a yellow belt in Kenpo. What's funnier, is that he said once he got his orange belt he kept getting called for fouls, like his kicks were too low. ROFL. By purple, he left TKD all together.

My first two kenpo instructors were 2nd and 1st dans. I am now fortunate to be training with a very solid and, I believe, legitimate, 8th dan.

I feel very fortunate also. 4 of the 5 instructors I train under have all been there over 20 years. Belt ranks are 8th, 5th, 3rd, 2nd & 2nd.

    The instructors I've trained with have been, while I was with them...8th, 8th, 7th, 2nd, 4th, 9th, 10th, 10th.

Yeah any Kempo or kenpo style for this thread. I suppose I should have put it in the General Martial Arts section...

Mr. Speakman is a 7th. I've had people of all different ranks as my instructors though.

what rank should the successor (my teacher) to his father's kempo be? (father who at one point turned down 11th dan from Professor Chow)

my teacher/instructor has a belt without stripes...BTW, I get to train with a first degree blackbelt who will soon get promoted...
