    Default Bujin Kenpo?

    Anyone ever heard of this?
Has anyone heard of Mike Sanders?
I talked with Lee Wedlake and he was promoted by the late Mr. Sanders. I only know that Mike Sanders was from Sterling, IL and held a 5th Dan rank. Possibly earning his rank from someone near Salt Lake City, Utah. That instructor is nowhere to be found from what Mr. Wedlake told me.

    From: http://www.lwkarate.com/leebio.htm

" Mr. Wedlake was later promoted to first degree Black belt on June 2, 1975 by Michael John Sanders, 5th Dan, Kenpo of Sterling, IL., who also promoted him to 2nd Degree Black. After Sanders' death in July 1979, Mr. Wedlake began studying with Edmund K. Parker. "

Any help would be great I am having a hard time finding out much on Mike Sanders, although he is listed in the who's who of Kenpo.

Hello, I am from Illinois and lived just down the road from Sterling, IL. I studied under students and friends of Mike Sanders. I began in Shaolin kung fu and later found a Kenpo school in Sterling/Rock Falls, IL. The school is no more but the people are still around. My father owned a motorcycle shop in Morrison, IL and I grew up around friends of Mike Sanders. I contacted Lee Wedlake in search of more information about Mr. Sanders. I tried using my Wedlake's information but every trail I followed led me nowhere.

I moved to Michigan and was not able to follow up on the new information I got not long ago. I hope to follow up those leads possibly this month

    Where are you all from??

Please keep me in the circle! I definately want to help out in any way I can. Although I never new Mr. Sanders my love of martial arts was brought on by some of his students! I have just recently found a Shaolin Kempo(USSD) instructor who moved here. I am studying with him but I will soon be forced to move to the Detroit area for work...so I am looking for a teacher in Michgan!

I was in search of info because I wanted to put together a book or something along those lines about Mr. Sanders and his system.

Email me with your info please!

If you can get me some names to add to mine. Maybe we can get a list going and contact as many people as we can. I ran short on leads for any lineage past Mr. Sanders. Lee Wedlake gave me some info but my search ended in Salt Lake City, Utah. I was trying to get info on where Mike Sanders learned and where that lineage goes? From what I could find out, the gentleman just dissappeared. The impression I got was he did not want to be found.

I am so glad that I searched the net on Bujin Kempo and found all of you. As a child I grew up across the street from Sensei Sanders. You should have heard all the crazy stories we used to come up with on his martial arts skill! I studied Bujin Kempo for a few years with I was a boy growing up in sterling under Jeff Thompson. Anyone ever know what has happen to him...is he still around? I also remember there being another gentleman whose last name was longanecker (bad spelling)? I remember him coming in a doing a form called "Hourglass". Does anyone here have any history on Bujin Kempo...I'd love to learn more as this was the first martial arts I picked up. Any information would be appreciated.

No history if Mike's life could be complete without talking with his inner circle of warriors called the Bujin. After Mike's death we all went our seperate ways and now almost 30 years later we are getting together again.

You can PM me and I'll introduce you to the remaining brothers.
Mills would be pretty surprised to find out he died. He's alive and well. He posts quite often at the San Jose Kenpo forum.

    That's funny.
Clear mind, clear movement. Mastery of the Arts is mastery over the Self. That in this moment, this motion, the thoughts, memories, impulses and passions that cloud the mind must yield to the clarity of purpose, and purity of motion.
