Default What to call my lineage of Kenpo?

Hello everyone, long time lurker here with a potentially difficult and perhaps meaningless question. (This is what happens when you can't train due to a pandemic)

Recently I've found myself delving into several kenpo websites and learning more about the history of the art we all practice. This has brought up the question of what to call my lineage of kenpo. Currently when asked I feel I don't have an accurate name to give. Anyway, my lineage is the standard (simplified) Mitose - Chow - Emperado - Gascon - Pesare - Cerio. Here's where it gets confusing for me. Cerio taught Rudy Horne who then taught my instructor, but he did so before creating Nick Cerio's Kenpo. We have combinations up to 39, 6 katas, 5 pinans, Statue of the Crane, and Hansuki. We don't have the blackbelt Shaolin Kempo forms, and I would describe our execution of techniques more 'hard' compared to shaolin kempo. So it seems it's not NCK, and it's not SKK, so what is it? I feel it has too many additions to be called Karazempo, but maybe I am wrong about that. My instructor calls it Chinese Kenpo Karate, but I've now learned that title is often associated with early Parker Kenpo.

I realize this is a bit of a semantic issue, but it's keeping me up at night, so please help a fellow Kenpoist. Thanks!

    Feral

Mitose- or Chow-lineage Kenpo. Or just Kenpo. Why does it need any more?

How about calling it MCEGPC Kenpo? Or simply MC Hammer Kenpo? Since you said it's kind of a hard style...

That's a fair answer, but basically all Kenpo in the US is Mitose/Chow lineage.

Does anyone know what Cerio was calling his Kenpo before it was NCK?

Sure. If someone asks about it, then you can give them the lineage details. In my opinion, it is the lineage that matters. I don’t believe there is an EPAK kenpo, for example. Instead, it is Planas lineage or White Lineage or Chapel lineage (which he has named Sub-Level 4, so in fairness it makes sense to call it by that name) etc. EPAK is far from united so you may as well just refer to the lineage.

Even the Tracy kenpo I studied, in my opinion is just Tracy Lineage and not a special name.

Just to muddy the waters a bit more. Sijo Emperado had a student named Walter Godin. Walter Godin split to do his own thing and called his art "Chinese Kempo Karate". Sonny Gascon and Godin collaobrated when Gascon created "Karazempo". If you look at the history, its very muddy of who did what exactly.

Walter Godin called his art Chinese Kempo Karate, and one of his most famous students was John Hackleman (The Pit-Hawaiian Kempo), who's most famous student was Chuck Liddell.

SO, you may be an off branch of Walter Godin's group, which is why it varies from the other lineages that you have seen.
