Green belt test

Monday night I passed my green belt test, I was a little worried after coming back a few months ago and having been away from training for close to nine months. Even though I did practice while I was gone it’s not the same as in class instruction.

Its funny looking back, I was very nervous about testing this time around I felt out of my groove since my last test was a long time ago. But I seemed to be able to stay calm and just do what needed to be done. This also strangely was not the toughest test I have had to date but I think I learned more about myself and my training during this test then ever before. I thought the test was over and I had done pretty well when all of the sudden my instructor told me and two more advanced students to form a 3 man triangle (he named this drill after 3 of his teen students that created the drill). He then said that he wanted someone to always be attacking someone no breaks, no hesitation just reaction. He also said we could formulate, at that point the test was a very good learning experience for me. I saw that my training does pay off in the fact that I was very able to react. And not only make words and sentences but to formulate and carry on against all kinds of attacks.

It was a fun night and one that the lessons learned will travel with me for a long time to come.

Congrats! It sounds like the test was well designed to both encourage you with what you have learned as well as testing your knowledge on the material.
