the following are videos with Mr Speakman discussing various sensitive kenpo topics.
With this being said it could start a good and hopefully clean topic of debate.
Anyways I'm sharing this youtube find with everyone here who hasn't had the change to view these files.
Long story short Mr Speakman spills the beans from his view point.
WARNING ....
Lots of sensitive subjects here.

It sums up both the good and bad.

I wish I could take credit for uploading them. That belongs to Subnear4 on YouTube.
That was very informative. Thanks for posting it.

Hmmmmmm, I used to really like Mr. Speakman too. O well just another view point. But that is all I am going to say about that.
"To hear is to doubt. To see is to be deceived. But to feel is to believe." -- SGM Ed Parker

"Praying Mantis, very good. . . For catching bugs." --Jackie Chan
"A horse stance is great for taking a dump" --Jet Li
I dont agree with everything he said but I do agree with some of it.
However I give Mr. Speakman credit for putting his beliefs out there and saying what he felt without holding back knowing it would eventually surface for all to see.
It will be interesting for sure to see what happens next.

Thank you for the posts.
I had heard most of this from various sources in the past and really don't have any disagreements to anything he said.
Quality outweighs quantity every time.
I've heard most of what he said from various sources as well.
I'm not big on the fact that he's selling Kenpo while claiming to answer to Lou Angel, a Gojo ryu master.
From what I heard, he was already a third under Mr. Angel before moving to L.A. to study under GM Tatum and then SGM Parker.
His claim to continue to study or whatever it may be called; under Mr. Angel explains a lot in how he and his students move in the youtube clip of his speedline. Kinda "Kenpo" but mostly "Karate" to me. But, at least he's trying to be innovative.
What he did say that I agree with is that very few people actually studied with SGM Parker up until his death, therefore, missing out on a lot of new info.

WOW!!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Kenpo. I have been studying for 1 & 1/2 years. I am currently a blue belt. The only problem I have with Kenpo is the amount of Grandmasters it has. I have NEVER seen a martial art with sooo many 10th degrees. It was like after GM Parker died, everyone went running for the throne. The way I look at it, is as long as you like your teacher, and you are benefitting from karate, it doesn't matter what type or even old school or new school. Just enjoy, and learn as much as you can. AND as always, give 120% or it's all worthless anyway!!!!

I guess as long as you are comfortable in your rank its all good. At the end of the day you have to look in the mirror and or be able to answer the questions via movement and knowledge.
If Bob White and Stephen LaBounty say he is a 7th black ... well who am I to argue with them
He did say a white belt and 7th black both do the same thing ... hold the uniform together.
Like I said I agree with much but not all that he said.

Well the fact that Tuiolosega, Labounty and Inosanto all got BB's under Mr. Parker says enough to me. Besides he's doing his own Kenpo system now and could just rank himself in his new 5.0 system. The fact that he opted to take the full test route is admirable in the least.

The head of my organization (Christopher Geary, a Shaolin Kempo guy) was in Joplin that day and sat on the test board.
But was there any chance JS would "fail" that "test"?? ROFL
Lou Angel, through his National College of Martial Arts, will promote people in any style : Angel's take on it is, he's been in MA for 50 years, he knows good from bad.

Very interesting...I hear a lot of the things that my instructor has talked about in the short time that I've been with him in Mr. Speakman's talk...
Also, Mr. Speakman mentions Mr. Tom Kelly in his talk, and I was wondering what happened to him? My instructor has a lot of respect for, and speaks very highly of, Mr. Kelly...Sorry to get off topic slightly, but I'm curious...
