There were many informative seminars at the Gathering of Eagles, but it would be a disservice to not give each their own thread, so I will only share a few.
Bart Vale’s seminar on Friday was great for anyone interested in grappling. It was a very hands-on seminar which meant that less material was taught, but it was remembered by doing and good practice for those of us who have trouble finding a partner on our own.
In his hour seminar he taught in interesting sequence beginning with a caught wheel kick, resulting in a series of submission holds and counters to many common grappling positions including the Guard, standing and ground ankle submissions, and the start of an armbar.
Grappling is not my forte, but it is definitely good to know some counters for those ‘oh sh.t’ situations that sometimes happen.

Wow, that puts things into perspective.

I have worked out with Bart. It's been about 10 years ago on several different occasions. He teaches good grappling seminars and makes it fun. If you can have fun with having pain.

Yes, does Bart still teach Kenpo?
He told me that he teaches Tracy's Kenpo in a private lesson format. His school's main focus is shootfighting.
