Default Kenpo or Aikido Referral for Jacksonville, FL.

We have a former student (young girl) who is now located in Jacksonville and she is looking for a Ke?po or Aikido school-

    Any thoughts?
The above is just my opinion.

    James,

Not sure on the Kenpo front. But from my active days in Aikido I would say that Aikido Center of Jacksonville may be a place to look into. Here is the link.

One other thing, and this is only preference, I would look for Aikido Dojos associated with the USAF (United States Aikido Federation). I've been a member of the AAA, ASU, USAF & Independent. The USAF was the best of the large associatinons in my opinion. Under the direction of Yamada Shihan and Chiba Shihan they are top notch.

    Dianhshue,

I can not vouch for the school but here is a listing I found (It was listed as a "Bill Superfoot Wallace" school on his website) It might be your best bet at least it is "sponsored" by a reputable source:

    Champion Kenpo Karate
    8540-8 Argyle Forest Blvd.
    Jacksonville, Fl 32244
    Contact Information:
    Derek Hull
    904-779-5844
    Website: coming soon!

The school listed below was not listed under Bill Superfoot Wallace:

    Champion Kenpo Karate
    7764 Normandy Blvd # 4
    Jacksonville, FL 32221
    (904) 781-1245

This school (link listed below) is well known in the Jacksonville area because of Master Instructor Mr. Lee Barden. I don't know what style they teach. I can not vouch for the school. Mr. Barden was often listed in the local newspaper and I have met him and found him to be very personable. He is great with the kids apparently.

I lived in Jacksonville for a couple of years but took KM at the time so I am not familiar with the other martial arts schools. There are a number of listings for aikido on the internet that can be checked out too.
Jacksonville, Florida is a small/(large geographically by land mass) city. I would suggest your student identify what area of Jacksonville she will be moving to and look in those areas. Driving around Jacksonville coming from opposite directions can be timely and frustrating with the traffic. Jacksonville is a great family city. It will be a change however from the San Diego area (lived there as well).

    Hope this helped. Good luck.
