    Default Schools in Massachusetts?

I am going to college in MA. and I really want to continue my training. I am having a hard time finding an American Kenpo school that is near South Hadley MA. It is about two hours west of Boston. If there are no American Kenpo schools then just kenpo schools. I am almost desperate. Anything anyone has to say I would love to hear.

    KenpoGirl,
I've been around you long enough for you to be able to see the difference between good and bad kenpo. If the 2 gentlemen above my post here endorse someone, go check them out.

The ECKS has schools throughout the East Coast of the US and
Canada. The head of the Association is Steve Arsenault he is located in New Bedford MA, and has ties to several schools in your area. He should be able to help you out, just tell him I sent you to him.

I drink massive amounts of Coke before and during training, after that it is time for a cold Budweiser or two.

I have to imagine there is something in the Five College area, but I don't know of any specific Kenpo schools to recommend. My brother lives in Amherst and was a student at Valley Akido for a number of years (perhaps still).

New Bedford, is quite a distance from South Hadley ...

Len Brassard is in Fitchburg. He has a pretty thorough program. I think he studies with Steve White and Lee Wedlake. But his studio is still well over an hour away.

One other thought ... East West Martial Arts is about 60 miles South, in Cheshire, CT ... I attend seminars there with Mr. Planas regularly.

Incidentally, Hudson Kenpo ... where I study, is two hours away.

You can totally rely on any information from Rob Broad or Jamie Seabrook. They will never steer you wrong. They are both highly respected here.

The ECKS Headquarters are in New Bedford, there are schools in the orginization all over. Just contact Steve Arsenault from the ECKS website and he should be able to direct you to a school near you.

I can speak to the ref to Dr Brassard & Mr. White. They are under the New England Chinese Karate Federation. Mr. William Gaudette is a student under Mr White (head of NECKF). Mr. Gaudette is my instructor and is located in Webster, MA. It is about 1 hour away from South Hadley.

Yes, they are all students under Mr. Wedlake.

Thank you all for your recommendations!

I was wondering/hoping if someone knew of any schools that were closer to South Hadley? Like less than 1 hour away. Because it is looking like the car that I was maybe going to have I am not going to have.

    Thank you again!

There are quite a few schools in the area, of this I am certain. But the trick is, they may not be Parker Kenpo schools. I think all the schools recommended in this thread have a very high pedagree. That doesn't mean there aren't quality schools in South Hadley, Chicopee, Granby or Amherst, it may just take a bit of looking about.

As I mentioned, I grew up in the area. I'll poke about a bit and let you know what I find.

Unfortunately there are not any American Kenpo schools in the near vicinity of Hadley, MA. I can recommend a Martial Arts instructor from another style, but it wouldn't be Kenpo. Sorry

It does not matter where the Martial art comes from. if it can help you defend yourself it is worth learning( Bruce Lee ) May the Force Be With You

How far are you from Worcester? South Hadley is what, 2 hours west? I'm not sure, let me know. I'm in the area. Oh, and Dave Staples is a great instructor, I've met him a few times and watched him teaching while visiting his school with my instructor, Joe Rebelo who is in New Bedford.
