What does Kenpo mean to you and your life?

How has it changed your life since you began on your journey as a kenpoist?

What about Kenpo drives you to continue to study and practice this great art for years on end?

When I first started studying Kenpo I was a scared, scrawny white boy that didn't have an ounce of confidence or a glimmer of hope had I needed to defend myself. I was inspired to take up the art by my father, who is a 4th degree black belt in Shotokan, and my mother, who is a first degree. My father taught me a little, but wanted me to learn from someone else. He said I would learn a lot better from an outside source, and he was right. There have been many times in my training while working on a difficult form where I have wanted to give up, but I have always stuck it out. At the very least, it has given me determination. To enhance my ability I have since taken up weight lifting, and transformed myself into a well muscled machine. I'm only a green belt, but my confidence is twice what it was when I first started. In short, I would be a totally different person without Kenpo.
