I have a question from someone looking for a kenpo school in the Dayton, Centerville, Oakwood, or surrounding Ohio area. EPAK is preferred as she's been studying it for a while now. She's currently a brown or testing for brown (I don't remember) under Jim Mitchell and would prefer to be able to carry her rank over, but has no problem starting at white again if need be. She's in her early teens so a teen friendly, but serious environment is preferred.
Thanks!

Well I could have helped, I lived in Ohio for 2 years in Dayton area. There are no Kenpo schools in the area. I was the only EPAK guy in town.
The brown institute of martial arts is the best game in town. They bring in Dan Insanto twice a year and offer a pretty diverse training schedule.
Or ...
If you want to train in Ninjitsu ... Steven Hayes has his main school in Dayton. He is a legend in those circles.

Jason's school is between Mt. Vernon, and Mansfeild. If they were close to Centerville, it would be worth the drive to either Mt. Vernon where there is a school, or even on up to Jason's school. Can't believe there are no schools in the Dayton area!

Well Dayton is the town America forgot. I have family there but its a miserable place for the most part and now since the GM plant shut down there I can imagine its even worse.

Tell her to grab a phone book. There are quite a few schools that practice EPAK in Ohio. One she could contact would be Mr.Joe Doyle in Mentor,Ohio. I believe that he is the highest ranking EPAK blk blt in the area? He trained under Mr.Parker, and now trains under Mr.Planas. I know he is'nt close to Dayton, but being the gentleman I know he is. He would probably give her some good direction. His studio is Doyle's American Karate Academy (440)255-6697

Ok, here's what I know.
Brian Jones whom typically posts on MT has a studio or goes to one in or right around the Toldedo area.
Joe Doyle has a studio in Mentor and as Donald said.. is probably the highest rank kenpo guy in the state.
I am a few miles away from the Mansfield area which is an hour north of Columbus. My instructor is 20 miles south of me.
Andrew King is in Columbus and has a Ron Chapel affiliated school.
I thought there was another school somewhere to the south and east but it's not coming to mind at the moment.

To add a little bit more.
Al Babinec has a school in Strongsville which is towards the upper middle portion of ohio.
Peter Galupo has a kenpo studio around the columbus area as well. I've trained with him many times.
Gus Sergetti lives in Westerville and last I knew he was teaching privately out of his home. That was at least a year ago.
Now, as far as southern ohio... I can't say for sure. This is what I know.
And here I thought Ohio was a sort of armpit......it seems that it boasts quite a few kenpo schools.
Amazing. I'll have to completely re-evaluate my opinion of the state.

I know there is one in Mentor. Mr. Joe knows who runs it but I forget his name.

Jen always says that she will always miss the winter in Ohio. Now her parents live in Panama City. They will never see snow down there, her mom can't stand that.
