Default 10th-degree black belt in David Germanís TAI karate

This person is claiming that rank under GM German. I wonder if KenpoJoe knows of him?

I like the locks....if I had to say anything negative it would be that he appears to be "loading" his weapons rather than going from point of origin. Maybe he's doing that for the camera? I don't have any idea of his rank though, and, I'm always leary of people who run ads in B.B. Magazine

All I know is that Master German moved a lot differantly and by differantly I mean BETTER...LOL anyway I would have to pick up a phone and give Mr. Anderson the true successor to Master Germans White Tiger Kenpo System a call and ask him about this 10th Degree.

Other than that I would have to say that the videos say it all.

    Greetings!

He doesn't move like a 10th degree... in Kenpo.

    Different standards.

Also, his movements seemed "muscled" or dependent on athletic ability instead of finer motor movements developed through specialized training. Also, some eye pokes, delivered the way shown, unfortunately could easily go to the cranium (reaction when you throw a punch and is blocked that way is normally to lift the shoulders to cover and retract arm), which could hurt the fingers...

This seems like a gross motor movement system. I haven't seen all, yet when I do, I will comment back on my impressions. Unfortunately, I doubt they will change.

The examples show lack of knowledge of advanced kinesiological concepts and applications. And that seems ok for what they want to accomplish, so they're happy. And that is ok too.

    Sincerely,

    Juan M. Mercado

As a student of KenpoJoe, I can vouch for Dr. Harfouch. His Chin-na is top of the line and he and Mr. German worked together for many years. If anyone here gets Budo Intl' magazine, there are many articles on both men. GM German, may he be with the Lord, always spoke fondly of Dr. H. And yes, he is a 10th dan.

I believe he is using "black-belt-level rank" in the kung-fu systems to explain to the unknowing. Because if I am correct, I believe most kung-fu systems use a red sash as their "black-belt-level".

Other than that, I am not trying by any means to take away from GM German or his teachings, but I have to agree with most of the posts here about his movement and execution of technique. He seems to move like a mid-belt-level at best.
