    Default 2007 Goals

I noticed that someone posted this quesdtion last year, so I thought why not for 2007? I cannot believe we are so close to the end of the year,,,,it seems the older I get the faster time passes.

Sounds good, I'll start. My goals:

Start a kenpo club at the university.
    Conquer Sticky Hands.
A 20% increase in my benchpress.
A one minute reduction in a mile run.
Visit my teacher up in the mountains at least four times.

There now, its public. Do me a favor and give me crap in a year if these don't happen, LOL.

    Salute,

To take one day at a time.

In my training ... I guess it is time to learn Form 5.

Well, it is going to be very tough, but I would really like to win the elite fighting division and my forms divisions in Quebec in March when I compete.

I also want to train with Larry Tatum again.

I know I want to build up my endurance, but I really don't know "which way" I want to grow right now. That's something I've been pondering over the last several weeks actually.

    I agree on that.
And for Kenpo, I'm not worried about getting my next rank. I plan on refining the material I thought I already knew.

Get a job somewhere back in the northwest.

Increase anaerobic fitness (tough to quantify).

Run a half marathon with my wife.

In kenpo, work on my power hitting.

In kali, work on my flow.

    I love goal-setting questions.

For karate, I want to expand our school and get comfortable with teaching and explore/learn the new 5.0 system. And go to some camps. Florida and Las Vegas.

As a personal goal, learn to 'turn off' the computer. Easier said than done. Spend a little more time with my kids.

Try to have a year with less turmoil and dramatic changes. I need a break. I can only have emotional upheaval for so long before a little break is in order.

Deepen some of my existing friendships.

    Hmmm...

    1. Get my Sandan (3rd)

    2. Open a martial Arts Club (Maybe a gym or Garage somewhere)

    3. Read 3-5 Classic Works of Literature

    4. Buy a new car

    5. Create my own Kara-Ho Kempo web-site

    6. Have a successful breeding of our CH. Irish Wolfhound

    7. Bench 300 lbs.

    8. Win 1 mid-sized poker tournament

    9. Play at least 2 events at the World Series Of Poker

    More to follow---
The above is just my opinion.

Setting Goals is a great idea. Just make sure they are realistic.

Mikael 151 has a great idea about not rushing to higher rank without refining and perfecting the knowledge he already has. If he does that the rank will come.

My son was goal oriented. He set a goal of making his green Belt by the end of the year. He made his Brown. That was 35 years ago.
And yes he is still in Kenpo. Quite a bit more relaxed now. Don't worry about rank any more.

Set your goals and strive to make them. YOU can do it!!!

    I am most Respectfully,
    Sifuroy
