    Default Environmental Awareness Excercise

Are you aware of the statistics for crimes in your city that could cause you or a loved one bodily harm; murder, rape, assaults, and robberies? It's part of being a good kenpoist and being prepared. Your state law enforcement agency should be able to provide you with this info.

Here's what the Georgia Bureau of Investigation just posted for 2005 for the city where my school's located.

    Murders: 28
Aggravated Assaults: 665 (that were reported or police responded to)
Rapes: 76 (again, reported...regretably, most rape goes unreported)
    Robberies: 381 (reported)

What are the "numbers" in your city?

Just google "Crime Rates <your town here>".

    Should come pretty close.

I guess I really live in hicksville, cause it says there where 8 crimes committed in my town. Crime rate is 4 for every thousand. But, for our county which is about the same size as a small eastern state, the following has been reported.

    Murder1Rape2Robbery2Aggravated Assault85Burglary153Larceny - theft351Motor vehicle thefts25

i dont understand the logic in checking the crime rate.. then again, i dont believe in statistics unless you have the ability to actually leave where you live if the rate is that bad and go to a better place, you just do what you can. lock your doors, stay alert getting in your car, dont walk thru rough areas alone especially at night, stay alert, etc.. cos if its gonna happen to you, its gonna happen regardless if its happened to someone else..

there are to many variables to have odds in life.. something will or will not happen.. you'll deal with it, or you wont.. you win, or you lose do or do not, there is no try so to me everything is 50/50 you just prepair for the worst lol

So I take it you don't study martial arts for the self-defense aspect? Being that you don't believe in anything increasing your chances and all. I mean, If you're going to survive a confrontation then, well...you're going to survive it regardless of how you train. Right?
