Default Favorite and most vicious extension

Two questions for thought, which I put on the KenpoNet as well:

    (1) What is everyone's favorite technique with extension?
    (2) Which extension do you think is the MOST vicious? I know there are so many, but if you had to choose, which one would it be?

I have yet to learn much of the extensions so I will go with what I know.

I like the extensions to Lone Kimmono Capturing the Storm and 5 Swords. They flow well with the rest of the technique.

The most destructive one I have to experience would be Dance Of Death and Capturing The Storm.

You guys are going love me because i don't use the parker extensions in the ackks, not that they are bad or anything,it's just that in the ackks we do the extension that fits the person, every person has a diffrent extension.
so what i talk about in kenpo is that if you had to use it then "use it"

    Yes Sir,
I think this quote says it best:
Traditionalists often study what is taught, not what there is to create --SGM Ed Parker
Being Left handed and short (actually on a global scale I'm ideal height ) my extensions take advantage of my personal attributes (OK, OK I don't have any personal attributes , but my extensions do fit me!! ). I'm a student of the ACKKS !!!!

What have I learned from this???

Nothing wrong with that....I am sure you are aware that there are a lot of high-ranking Kenpoists who feel the extensions are unneccesary. That stated, I feel the extensions are very useful at showing how upper body principles can also be applied to the lower half of the body (e.g. more leg sweeps & buckles in the extensions) and in that sense, the techniques become more advanced.

Hello Sir, i do agree with you up to a point, now try to understand what i mean, and please i'm not talking down to anyone, so what does advanced
mean?when we go up the kenpo ladder we learn all these things that if you really look at it "when will we ever use them the way they are taught"
like i said i do agree with alot of what you said, but the more we go up we (i know i do) may do a tech from the upper belt chart, but i make it basic.
and with the checks, buckles, sweeps, joint, dropping, rounding, upside the circle, and all that stuff that gos in the big WOK that has all the kenpo in it you will need, what you do is (and i know everyone knows this) take what you need, when you need it, but i make it basic .
i do that for the AVANCED.
i'm sorry if i got some of you upset with this, but like i said on the phone Mr Seabrook it's hard to put your fellings on the board the way you really feel.

    Mr. Elmer,

I agree with wat you are saying. The only thing I would argue, however, is that much of the extensions involves new material and gives instructors the opportunity to evaluate different ways the technique can be performed.

So is anyone going to offer an extension ... or just reasons why not?

I personally really like the Squeezing the Peach extension, the variant I learned in the late 1980's from Howard Silva. My teacher, Mr. Burks has added a nice insert with elbows to the sternum that I really like.

i'll tell you this , a person don't know how the perp, will react to your tech let alone trying to do the whole extension,go and ask Mr Howard silva, and Mr tommy Burks, because we had this talk about extensions when we all were up in mass, together.
anything will work if you can get it to work, look kenpo is like playing pool
you have to set up the next move and they must make sence.

Squeezing the Peach has one of my favorite extensions as well. Here's the way I teach it:

after the outward horizontal elbow to the head (end of the base technique),

hammerfist shot to the groin, drag up, grab his head, knee his face, right side kick to ihs right knee, right front cross-over and right lifting forearm smash to the opponent's head, right back kick, followed by an immediate jump left inward crescent kick across the face......NASTY.

Oh, you cheater....I asked for your FAVORITE (singular). At the same, if I had Joe Palanzo as often as you, I would probably have a tough time narrowing it down to. Okay, fine...you're off the hook.

I am a big fan of Five Swords it just flows and allows you carry out tremendous momentum. That and there are so many points you can make insertions in that it becomes endless.

I just LUUUUUUV the Dance of Death extension. And I love parting wings and the extension.

I think the leaping crane extension is pretty vicious. I like it too.

    So many extension!
