Yes, of course it does.
I wouldn't be on this forum if it didn't.
Basically, any preparation for an attack will increase your chances of surviving it.

If you don't think Kenpo works on the street, why study it?
Hard to say... question is does Kenpo help against an attack.. i would say any study of martial arts would be helpfull against an attack...

What's the difference between "Sorta" and "Sometimes"![]()
Good question. I wondered the same thing...Originally Posted by lady_kaur

Studying martial arts is for life, not for the color of the belt.
I think that it's a good question. I mean, let's just say this is a tkd message board. Now ask yourself "does this help?"
What's your reply?
Did I stretch enough???
Or with Kenpo, "Is anything breathing in my vicinity?"
Reminds me of a favorite movie quote:
Miyagi: Now, ready?
Daniel: I guess so.
Miyagi: [sighs] Daniel-san, must talk. Man walk on road. Walk left side, safe. Walk right side, safe. Walk down middle, sooner or later, get squished
[makes squish gesture]
Miyagi: just like grape. Same here. You karate do "yes," or karate do "no." You karate do "guess so,"
[makes squish gesture]
Miyagi: just like grape. Understand?
Daniel: Yeah, I understand
More Shugyo!
In my everyday life I find myself not only more aware of my surroundings but constantly checking angles and positions of myself and the people around me. Does all this come from only the practice of Kenpo? For me it does. As stated above by the Celtic Crippler "Basically, any preparation for an attack will increase your chances of surviving it."

I'm also a better chess player because of it. Figure that out.
That's easy.Originally Posted by Mikael151
Kenpo and Chess both require one to think many moves ahead of their opponent.

Depends on how said kenpo is trained. Competence and the validity of the delivery systen are two different things.
Kenpo help me survive hand to hand altercations in Desert Storm and Bosnia. So I say YES, and today I have a family that would agree also.
Ummm ask my old roomates friend. LOL.
