Default Ed Parker IKKA American Kenpo Karate Journals?

When the IKKA was still an actual organization, we had these belt Journals that we could buy from Mr. and Mrs. Parker for Yellow, Orange etc. I still have mine, which I preserved by putting each page in a protective plastic sheet protector, and I still refer back to them from time to time and even carry it around with me when I go to seminars and the like. I was wondering if anyone out there knew where new ones or maybe used ones can be purchased? With the KAM IV group putting the WWE-Smack down on all things IKKA / Ed Parker, does anyone know where to get them now? It seems like their lawyers have done such a good job at crushing everything IKKA under the guise of controlling the Parker name, that it's hard to find anything IKKA or Ed Parker Sr. anymore. Any ideas by chance?

Make photocopies for your daily use, and keep your originals in a safe place, protected from water, the weather, mice, fire, theft, etc.

if you are only using them yourself and are not selling them (at least not openly) then nobody will be the wiser and you won’t have any troubles.

I am working my way through a fire remediation. In about 4 or 5 months, I will find out the condition of my library of books, manuals, tapes, et al.

So much is lost that I won't even remember ever having.

Oh man, thatís horrible! Iím so sorry you are having to go though that. The loss of sentimental items is devastating.

i am sorry to hear that Michael. I cannot imagine what it must be like to have to rebuild after a fire. Being displaced like that would be terrible.

your library is probably the least of your concerns, but that loss would be painful as well. I hope your insurance company treats you right.

This is why I tell my students to scan and laminate all of their certificates. I had an instructor that had his school struck by lightning and he lost just about everything in the building

Thanks guys ... We will be made whole. The house is down to the studs now. The rebuilding will hopefully begin shortly.

I’ll tell a quick story that I hope will get a chuckle.

My brother had a close friend in college who could not bring himself to part with his text books at the end of each semester. By the time he finished, he had a significant pile. He dragged them around with him whenever he moved, until he finally rented a storage unit and put them all there.

one day he received a call from the storage facility: there had been a fire in the facility, and his unit was completely destroyed. He immediately thought of all those books he lost, was outraged for about a minute, until he suddenly felt a weight lift off his shoulders. He realized he was happy to let them go, he just couldn’t make the decision himself.

Yep. There is a certain amount of this.

I tell people who are the least bit interested two things about accidents like this.

First ... make sure your smoke detectors are working. My wife and the dogs got out safely. So all that was lost and damaged was just "stuff".

Second ... get rid of the stuff in your house you don't use; sell it, donate it, or as last resort, junk it. The insurance company paid well into the five figures to 'de-smoke' and dry clean all the fabrics in the house; clothing, linens, bedding, everything. So much of this was unused that about 20% immediately when to the local donation center, probably 10% was to the landfill. Remember, your trash can be someone else's treasure.
