I train because I like the contact and it gives me a good sweat. If I don't sweat by doing something physical then I'm not happy.

    Lastly,
I train for when my daughters become of dating age.

    Hmmm

What is it designed for? Or what do I get out of it?

I just do not seem to get into fights or altercations so I am just plugging along trying to perfect my character... I am 1% complete
The above is just my opinion.

I do it for the enjoyment, the exercise, teaching and self confidence and control. Once and a while I will test myself and do a tournament.

not sure if I could really pick from athat list for a single reason..

Of course it is for health and self defence to preserve the health.. but it is also for friends, to study movement of the human body, self expression, to teach, to learn, to constantly think, for order, for diciplin, for my children to learn when I have them

    I agree with CC's list.

I don't like exercise that doesn't make me think. It bores me.

I started in Kenpo because my friend did and I wanted us to have something in common.

I kept it up because it became part of who I am.

Kenpo isn't something you DO; it's something you ARE.

It's definately a lifestyle for a lot of folks (me included.) Getting bored is why I never stuck with other MA. I can only throw so many punches before I start to knod off! lol TBH, I've never gotten bored with Kenpo (and I get bored real easy ). It DOES stimulate your brain and is ever improving and ever changing. Man...I love this stuff!! LOL.

I train because I enjoy it.

Used to I'd have said self defense. But right now, I need something I enjoy to keep me active. Something I can get into when I don't feel like doing anything. And something that works the mind and spirit as well. What would you call it when all these are united simultaneously-- marriage of gravitas?
