    Default Sub-Level 4???

    Hi,

My friend, Jenni Mills, was talking to me about sub-level 4. She didn't have time to explain it and I didn't think about it much until I read a few things in here about 'motion kenpo' and I remembered she said that too.

Can anyone share any insight about these terms?

    HI Amy and Camey,

    Amrik here from the UK.

SL4 well I was going to say something about it but I think it's probably best for Doc to explain. Suffice it to say it is indeed very interesting and midn numbing.

Hope to see you all soon.

Ahoy! Sweet Amrik! Hope you are doing well. Look forward to seeing you in a few months.

So did the Doc teach you those crazy moves " those which must not be named " you were so lovely to share in Vegas?

If you see Stuart, please send my regards.

Hey Amy... it's called kenpo and it's inclusive not exclusive.
I couldn't resist... you know me.

My Shaolin Kempo school brought Doc Chapel out to Omaha last year, and we were amazed at what he was teaching. He told us that his material could improve the practice of any style, and I think he is correct. he showed us some things for example about the horse stance that could not be beleived until tried

Would you kindly elaborate? What did he show you about the horse stance?

With specific head movement, foot movement, and touching myself in just the right way (DONT GO THERE! LOL) a 6'2" 300lb man was unable to move me from my stance. Stuff like that.

Every part of your body is connected to every other, and they all matter. Small adjustments to how you hold your hand for example make a difference in stability and strength.

Another exercise in self-discipline! Biting tounge.

I see the logic in what you're saying. I wish I was closer to Southern CA because I would definately take in some lessons on this. I've "stumbled" across some things on my own and had an epiphany or two but it would definately help to have guidance from someone in the "know."

    Doc,

Would you mind taking us through what would be the first day of training for someone if you took them on as a student? What would be the first things you would cover and what would be the major points of emphasis?

    Thanks,
    Cam

    Hi Cam,

Basics is the key stance work setting your stance correctly horse stance, neutral stance as well as blocks forming correct blocks. Where your block goes is important but just putting it in the correct finishing position is not the same as getting it there correctly.

    Everything matters

and as I have heard on many an occassion fix ya feet

Other than basic protocol and adminsistration activities, the first experience on the floor is; learning to stand, and the begininng of learning to index the head, arms, hands, legs, and feet.
