Jay T Will taught me Kenpo through private lessons in Atlanta in the late 80s/early 90s. He was patient, skilled, and always explained things so well. It was a four hour drive twice a month, but I always looked forward to it. He had a school in Atlanta, and had made video lessons (old VHS). I would work hard in between and he would tweak and perfect in my lessons. I never knew of his troubles, and he was always a man of his word.

I should still have some of the videos around at my childhood home, if anyone is interested in his perspective. With him long gone, I suppose I could put them on YouTube, or have my son out them on YouTube.

He was very sick. On top of cardiomyopathy, he had been diagnosed with a form of cancer, but he didnít dwell on it or talk about it.

After his death I spoke with someone at the Jay T. Will school in Lancaster. They told me that Jay needed a heart transplant and was on the short list to get one, but during presurgical tests it was discovered that he had leukemia. This dropped him from the list immediately.
