    Default Kenpo Wheel Patch??

One advanced student (brown belt) at my school wears this patch:

I was wondering what it represents??
Angles of attack/defense, 9/18 hands of Lo Han, circular motion, something else??

What have I learned from this???

Not sure what it may/may not represent in your particular school, but we have in our dojo that same emblem on our wall, reminding us of our eight angles of escape, and in to each angle, we are in position to either leave the danger area, or to counter...

    Who's patch is it?

    * Why is there always time to do it over, when there is never time to do it right?

    Sir,
    I don't know??
This patch is not part of our standard Gi.
As you can see from my picture (once you stop laughing, and yes I am that funny looking!!):

Our standard set of patches is:
George Elmer's ACKKS crest (left chest),
ACKKS rocker patch (left arm top),
Universal Pattern, looking from the outside-in (left arm under rocker),
New Jersey rocker (yes, New Jersey now stop laughing!!, right arm top),
Optional-WCAF World Combat Arts Federation membership (right arm under rocker),
Name rocker above the crest, first name then last name when advanced rank is achieved

One student came in wearing this generic type patch in question which I have seen on shirts, gear bags, etc...
Now my curious nature combined with this forum's "Beginners Corner" seemed like the best place to ask.
I appreciate any and all responses given to my questions.

What have I learned from this???

What is the meaning of that patch? I’ve seen it many times, but never on anyone’s Gi. I got one and put it on my gear bag from sakura-0.com. My Sensei (9th dan.) Says it represents the eight directions of movement. You can advance forward or backward, move to your left or to your right ect. Also think of it this way... you are the center of the patch and the eight lines are boards that you are standing on, your feet would be on two of the eight directions regardless of what “Stance” you’re in.

    I hope this helps.

This patch was released in 1991 by Asian World Martial Arts supply. It reall was meant as a generic Kenpo crest for schools that did not have their own logo as crests.
    Quality outweighs quantity every time.

When I was with my previous instructor, everyone but me wore it as a back patch.
Just because you do something one way, does not mean that everyone else does it that way, or that it is even the correct way.

It does not matter where the Martial art comes from. if it can help you defend yourself it is worth learning( Bruce Lee ) May the Force Be With You

Your instructor should let you know if there are any particulars about what patches you can and can't wear, and where you should or shouldn't put them. My school doesn't have any standards about what patches we wear, most of us just wear a plain gi. Others are quite specific about how you should wear your patches, down to the half inch from the seam....
