if you learn it right like the disipline and the moves its not only fighting its self defence and disipline
I come to you with only karate. Empty hands.I have no wepons. But should i be forced to defend my self my principals or my honor. Should it be a matter of life or death,of right or wrong. Then here are my wepons karate empty hands.

Anything that helps you be a little more prepared for an encounter makes you more capable on today's streets. For many people the increase in confidence is enough to help them no longer be a vistim.

Not to be sarcastic, but does it help what? Many people want many different things out of the martial arts and kenpo in general. I believe and teach kenpo can help many aspects of what a person is wanting to attain from goals.

What is it you are wanting kenpo to help with?

I'm guessing since you asked that question you're fairly new to Kenpo. But I bet you could answer your own question. Give it a month and come back and tell us what you think. If it didn't work for all of us, we wouldn't be here now would we?

few thigns I have noticed since I started Kenpo and this is after probibly... ohh...16ish years of differant martial arts...

Getting a great workout... my blocks have gotten cleaner, my footwork has gotten MUCH cleaner and I have noticed that my reflexes have been better honed.

Martial arts as a whole... does it work.. well I can tell you that it definatly helped me form who I am from who I was and that is a vast improvement.

Non combat use... well one thing Kenpo. at least where I am has not focused on too much, some.. but not much, is falls. I got my fall training from Ju-Jitsu.. an it kept me from cracking open my skull when I slipped on an icy driveway a few years back.

I learned how to fall taking Judo but kenpo showed me how to make the other guy fall just where I wanted him too.
As for does kenpo really help,I would say most certainly yes for me, I could always fight but Kenpo gave me more weapons to use.

Does Kenpo help? Well it helped me get in better shape. Kenpo helped me make a bunch of friends, meet a lot of new people and find this very cool website. Kenpo helped give me something to do while I smoke outside (working on techís Ė and I donít smoke in the house)

Does Kenpo work for real? Well just walk up to some one that has been studying Kenpo for 2, 3, 5, 10, 15 years and throw a punch. As you are being placed in the back of an ambulance headed to the hospital well Iíll take that as a yes. But seriously I think all forms of Martial Arts work if a few conditions are met. You practice what you are taught, You practice what you are taught , and you show up and give 100% in class.

Kenpo has been a tremendous help in keeping my car repaired.

It's great for cooking and goes well in salads.

It's slices, dices and can peel a potato in one swirling slice.

It looks good with pants or a dress.

It never goes out of style.

It's low in calories and high in fiber.

    It's on sale.

They're not required, but they do make you go faster.

......... such a slew of comments that could be made here.... few of which are appropriate.
