    Default B.O.B. I'm Stoked!

I got some extra dinero and finally ordered a B.O.B.!
After a class one night, my buddy Matt Smith and I were talking Kenpo and stuff, and during the conversation, I realized that have something to train with at home could aid in my Kenpo application. If I get an idea about something, I can go and try it out on B.O.B. If the Fists of Fury want to be unleashed, B.O.B.!
Further more, Mr. Hilderbrand, my instructor; talked about "Gaps" the other night. One of those being "gaps in training". How do you fill the "gap" in between training sessions? You do work!

The most valuable thing that I found from training with my B.O.B. was that my target accuracy improved. I also do 2 minute drills with him when I don't have a sparring partner where I just work him over full bore without stopping. Good workout!

I can't wait til B.O.B. gets here. I'm hoping to really work on my timing and targeting. Nothing beats a real person, but I'll be able to train when I want to work on some ideas.
    I like the 2 minute idea, C.C.

If you like that, then try to just do punches for 10 secs as fast and as hard as you can. My instructor said, "hit bob like he stole something from you". Then rest for 10 secs, then repeat. Do that for 2 min. and that is just only punches!

Poor B.O.B.! He's going to get the techs I know, plus the inserts. He's also going to help me understand what I'm doing in my forms.

I hate BOBs. The base is too large for my prefered fighting range; so, with that I would say they train you to overextend yourself with your hand basics. Not to mention they always fall down when you hit them.

    You need an Ultraman dummy.

I was thinking of that. I might have to put some bricks or something under the back so that I can tilt it foward a little more like an actual attacker. As for knocking it over, I really want to work my timing and whipping motion. Thrusting will definately knock it over.

NEVER gonna do better than beating on an actual person!
    I like BOB's, but you're right.....that's how they are.

There's one model I've seen that doesn't have a base but hangs like a punching bag. BUT then you can still say that they don't move like a human.

    oh well....

    that's why we have friends
    to BEAT on.

Once you graft thrusts on to the whips it falls down just the same.

Even when the base is fully filled? That's not good.

I'm getting the XL and it should be here today. I'll have to see how it holds up.

That is the one I have and it holds up well until you start thrusting.

Just filled it up with water. It's holding up real well. It seems a little softer than the ones I remember. Maybe that's to keep it from falling over. Or maybe I'm not hitting it hard enough yet, lol.
Unfilled it's about 40 lbs. and with sand it goes up to 270. Not sure how much it weighs with water.

250-270 sounds about right. Mine is filled with sand. Sand seems to make it more stable. Until you knock the crap out of him. lol
